As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for consolidated tax provision, note disclosure and audits, and tax technology. Your goal will also be to provide leadership and mentoring of a tax analyst. Your success will be to work as part of Irving Oil's Tax team and to help deliver on the organization's tax reporting obligations.

Your Responsibilities:Provide management & leadership to the tax operations team; manage and deliver on the organization's tax reporting obligations
Prepare consolidated tax provisions and note disclosures
Detailed review and approval of the tax provisions prepared by tax analysts
Detailed review and approval of tax reconciliations
Work closely with domestic and foreign tax teams on tax information and forecasts
Prepare annualized effective tax rate and tax forecasts
Establish productive relationships with the businesses - ensure that provisions are understood and informational requirements for provisions and compliance are met
Analyze tax return filings are prepare book-to-return adjustments
Quarterly communication of a complex global tax provision in an understandable manner to executive leadership
Develop knowledge of and become a go-to person for the company's tax provisioning software
Monitor legislative tax developments impacting the business and effectively communicate with stakeholders
Work with external financial auditors on quarterly and annual audits of the tax provision
Monitoring and updating internal control procedures
Working closely with the financial reporting and consolidations teams
Assist and engage in audit management, strategic tax planning and other initiatives as required

Good analytical skills
Expert MS Excel skills; VLOOKUPS, pivot tables, formulas, etc
Comprehensive understanding of tax budgeting and forecasting process
Exceptional knowledge of Canadian tax laws
Excellent knowledge of IFRS tax accounting and reporting
Experience with Longview is an asset
Your Experience:Post-secondary education in accounting or finance. Undergraduate degree is required
Accounting designation is required
Completed CICA in-depth tax program or Masters in Tax
5-7 years relevant work experience
3+ years of leadership experience
Experience in the energy business is an asset
