Description :Dream is looking for a Manager, Sustainability & ESGWe are always looking for the best and brightest to join our thriving community. Dream is looking for a Manager of Sustainability and ESG. This role works across the Dream group of companies, including five publicly traded companies and four private funds, totaling over $27B of assets under management.What will you do?In this role, you will be playing a major role in sustainability data collection and reporting, staying on track with regulations and voluntary reporting initiatives, providing technical expertise and supporting our sustainability and impact initiatives, including net zero goals, in our developments, owned and managed assets, and internal operations. The ideal candidate will have a highly relevant consultancy background, ESG data assurance experience or experience in a similar role at another Real Estate company.Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the collection, analysis, and reporting of sustainability data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and voluntary reporting standards.
  • Lead and perform collection, organization and assurance of all sustainability data, including utility data. This includes GHG mapping, auditing and reporting in accordance with the GHG Protocol.
  • Manage the GHG verification and data assurance process, working with internal, cross-functional groups and external consultants and assurance providers and support the implementation of internal controls processes.
  • Contribute and lead improvements to third party ESG rating agency scores.
  • Monitor and interpret emerging sustainability regulations and trends to ensure the company remains compliant and proactive.
  • Work with the Sustainability team and other internal groups to identify, develop and implement opportunities to engage employees in sustainability efforts.
  • Provide internal advisory services to businesses and functions on how emerging sustainability issues and opportunities impact their bottom line.
  • Contribute to the annual Sustainability Report and other reports that highlight our progress and performance against approved sustainability goals and commitments.
  • Perform research to routinely benchmark Dream relative to our industry competitors on sustainability performance.
  • Represent Dream on various external associations and working groups, including sharing key learnings and practices with internal partners.
  • Support efforts in achieving and maintaining green building certifications (BOMA, LEED, etc.)
What qualifications are we looking for?
  • A graduate degree in a relevant field of study (Sustainability, Environment, Climate Change)
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in Environmental, Sustainability or Impact sectors.
  • Strong understanding of emissions reporting standards and frameworks (Greenhouse Gas Protocol), net zero reporting standards (CRREM, SBTi), GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), TCFD (Task Force on Climate related Financial Disclosures), SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board), ISSB (International Sustainability Standards Board), CSDS (Canadian Sustainability Disclosure Standards) and CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive).
  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups across multiple locations.
  • Previous success in collaborating with multiple stakeholders with varying interests to reach mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Experience with GRESB, Green Building Certifications, PRI is an asset.
  • Commercial real estate/property management industry experience is preferred.
  • CPA designation is an asset.
  • Consultancy background is an asset.
  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills.
  • Strategic thinker and agile problem solver, while simultaneously driving a rigorous, data-driven approach to understanding the environment and driving for results.
  • A strong communicator who can effectively address both small and large groups with empathy, credibility and trust.
