Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working out of a nearby Canadian Blood Service office with a mixture of on and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement is subject to change, based on operational needs.

About The Role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Manager, Supply Planning to join our dynamic Integrated Supply Chain Planning Team. The work of a Manager, Supply Planning is integral to Canadian Blood Services role as Canada\'s Lifeline.

The Supply Planning team strives to improve Canadian Blood Services\' approach to supply planning and inventory management across the supply chain, through the implementation of best practices, policies, programs, tools and systems. The scope covers supply planning and inventory management for fresh blood products (FBP) within the long-term (S&OP) and short-term (S&OE) planning horizons. This group functions as the central coordination team for ensuring that FBP supply is balanced with expected demand and that supply and inventory impacts are considered, understood and mitigated in alignment with organizational expectations for projects and programs that may impact supply.

The Manager, Supply Planning (S&OE) reports to the Associate Director, Integrated Supply Chain Planning and leads a team of planners that is functionally responsible for successful operations execution against supply and inventory targets across the country and the coordinated product movements required to balance inventory coverage across distribution centres and minimize product outdating. This role will also be accountable for defining, managing and maintaining standards, policies and processes related to supply and inventory planning across the organization. The team will collaborate with various functional groups to ensure quality oversight and management of the supply planning and national inventories in accordance with monthly integrated business planning processes. In pursuit of this goal, the Manager, Supply Planning (S&OE) is accountable to manage a team of resources, and work with other stakeholder groups, to ensure proper governance models are put in place, with proper metrics and reporting established.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sponsor the vision and strategy for FBP supply and inventory planning across Canadian Blood Services.
  • Support the implementation of leading practice integrated business planning approaches across the organization, including lean principles, new technologies, and processes.
  • Development of supply plans for FBP aligned to forecast demand for products.
  • Ensure timely, relevant and accurate reporting of results, emerging issues and corrective actions to relevant internal and external stakeholders as they relate to supply planning and inventory management.
  • Lead and/or provide subject matter expertise to a variety of supply chain projects and initiatives.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of resources to support the Supply and Inventory Planning function.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Education, Training and Experience:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Commerce, Operations Management, or closely related field is required. A master\'s degree in a relevant discipline and/or certification from a professional Supply Chain Management program is an asset.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience within a manufacturing, pharmaceutical or other regulated environment.
Demonstrated Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior planning and analysis abilities.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly proficient in the use of MS Excel, SAP IBP, ECC and Power BI tools.
  • Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and computer literacy, including preparing executive briefings to summarize insights from supply and inventory analysis.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment, including the coaching and development of team members.
  • This job requires leading, directing, and delegating to cross-functional team members.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
