MISSION
The Manager, Store Design is responsible for delivering creative strategic initiatives through various store design projects by providing design support and direction that drives sales and elevates the Customer Experience.
KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS
Completion of new store projects on time, on budget, and within scope
Elevation of store design and experience (for both external and internal customers)
Customer satisfaction as evidenced by stakeholder feedback
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Functional
Develop new store designs, manage concept and millwork development drawings
Manage and work closely with external consultants, vendors, and suppliers
Review and coordinate Architectural and MEP drawings
Responsible for design solutions that achieve merchandising goals set forth in design brief
Ensure the completion of team deliverables and adhere to project budgets
Own and advise on questions about a project's design, construction, and ?xture details for prototypes for timely implementation
Space plan stores based on standard assortment grades and department productivity
Responsible for the design and roll-out of fixtures
Manage light-scale construction projects, as required
Understand, apply, and support the development and maintenance of Indigo's Store Design standards
Accountable for maintaining and updating database of the current fixture floorplans, fixture drawings, and photographs of all stores
Research and source materials for architectural design elements to meet construction, maintenance, operations, and procurement needs
Continuous professional development to enhance position-relevant skills and knowledge of department protocol, code compliance, and quality control"
Actively seek opportunities to improve internal processes to streamline design timeline and execution.
Take on special projects assigned by senior team members
Develop solutions that support the omni-channel, online / in-store integrated customer experience
Ensure the store experience is best-in-class, acting as an advocate for the customer and employee by placing them at the forefront of all design and decision-making processes
People
Collaborates closely with Director, Store Design
Mentor and foster the development of direct reports
Interface closely with cross-functional departments on projects as applicable
Give authentic feedback on performance and potential
Ensure all team members understand where they stand and have clear performance objectives aligned with Indigo and team goals
Encourage team members to share knowledge and resources to advance the team and/or the organization
Accountable for the overall engagement, productivity, turnover, and bench strength of the team

Qualifications
Work Experience / Education / Certifications
Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience in commercial interior design in retail, hospitality, or equivalent
Bachelor's degree in architecture, Interior Design or Industrial Design or equivalent experience in professional practice
NCIDQ certification / OAA certification is an asset
LEED & WELL accreditation, knowledge and project experience is an asset
Member of ARIDO (association of Registered Interior Designer of Ontario), OAA (Ontario Association of Architects) or equivalent is an asset
Experienced in the design and execution of commercial environments
Experienced in working closely with architects and various consultants (design agencies, MEP engineers, structural engineers, lighting designers) in the execution of commercial projects
Experienced working with construction and in construction administration
Knowledge of and experienced in preparing and reviewing construction drawings and construction details
Knowledge of and experienced with fabrication methods inherent in store fixture, architecture, and furniture production
Knowledge of and experienced with visual merchandising criteria, with experience in retail presentation
Retail experience is an asset
Competencies / Skills / Attributes
Expert in CAD and 3D rendering skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and Sketch-Up
Understanding of proportion and scale to translate ideas, forms, and functions into cohesive design concepts
Excellent ability to create, understand, and translate three-dimensional space concepts into conceptual drawings
Organized and analytical, with keen attention to detail
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Committed to growing skills and continuous improvement
Able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment
Interested in evidence-based design, human-centered, and empathetic design that puts the wellbeing and experience of people first
Dedicated to learning and searching out new points of view in design
Open to listening, accepting feedback, and exploring opportunities based on feedback on design work
Clear and professional communicator, written and verbal.
Have a good understanding of the building codes, and barrier-free design
