About the role






We're looking for a Manager, Specialty solutions - Professional Liability, to join our growing team!



What you'll do here:



Build a strong book of profitable business while also auditing policies to ensure adherence to company standards. Coach underwriters and assist in negotiating with brokers on larger opportunities. Train brokers and underwriting staff on underwriting matters. Communicate on a regular basis with key broker contacts on accounts, plans and results. Liaison with the Business Development Team to reinforce and facilitate desired effects to the broker's portfolio performance. Manage employee performance and contribute to the salary review process. Hold regular team meetings with staff to communicate corporate issues and to respond to employee issues. Participate in the establishment of premium and loss ratio targets. Authorize the acceptance of new business, renewals and endorsements. Promote the company's products through information sessions with brokers. Develop and manage effective working relationships with brokers, staff, and other departments. Establish and maintain service levels by organizing and monitoring work flow and setting priorities to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity. Establish goals and monitor the development of underwriting staff to ensure achievement of department Business Plan.

What you bring to the table:



University and/or College Degree or any combination of equivalent education and experience Minimum 5 years of relevant Commercial experience Minimum 2 years experience in people management/ supervisory role Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation an asset Sound knowledge of all commercial lines insurance written Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail Can work in a constantly changing environment Strong customer service orientation Open to up to 20% travel. No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
