Position: Manager, Security Operations Centre

Summary:
The Manager, Security Operations Centre (SOC), oversees cybersecurity operations, incident response, and service transition activities. This role ensures effective monitoring, detection, and response to security threats while also managing the transition of new IT services into production. The Manager leads staff, works with cross-functional teams and vendors, and drives improvements in security operations, policies, and processes.
Responsibilities of the Role:
- Lead day-to-day operations of the SOC, including incident monitoring/response, vulnerability management, reporting, and communications.
- Oversee security incident response across cloud and on-premise environments, ensuring proper documentation and stakeholder updates.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to maintain and improve security monitoring tools and processes.
- Conduct gap analysis, advocate for SOC enhancements, and drive continual service improvements.
- Manage service transition activities, ensuring new IT solutions and services are effectively integrated into production.
- Coordinate cross-functional change, release, and configuration management processes.
- Develop policies, procedures, and reporting to support cybersecurity and service transition programs.
- Lead, coach, and manage staff, including performance management, training, and resource planning.
- Represent IT Services in stakeholder discussions, vendor management, and senior-level meetings.
- Provide after-hours support for major incidents or projects.
Skills and Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, with several years of management experience.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity operations, incident response, and ITIL-based service management.
- Familiarity with network protocols, enterprise architecture, and security tools.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, Security+, Azure, SANS, ITIL) are assets.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex incidents, and drive process improvements.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and act under pressure.
- Skilled in relationship management, change management, and cross-functional collaboration.
