POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Vice President High Risk Activity Training & Operations, the Manager, Regional Operations North & East oversees the day to day operations of a team of Health & Safety Consultants to ensure training and consulting services that promote health, safety and wellness and the elimination of workplace injuries are provided to the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association ("IHSA") membership within the construction, transportation and electrical sectors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operations Management:
Oversees the management of the operations of training and consulting services, ensuring programs and day-to-day operations and activities are developed and managed, issues are identified and resolved, and service standards and business planning targets are established and achieved.
Coordinates the upkeep of the North & East IHSA facilities, including but not limited to; conducting regular inspection of facility and grounds and security systems, preventative and emergency maintenance and repair work for the OSDC, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Timmins annual building maintenance and inspections, including SAE anchors are completed.
Coordinates training schedules and classroom/meeting room bookings for sessions taking place within the facility.
Directs the scheduling and delivery of all IHSA training programs in assigned regions, ensuring ongoing operations are conducted in compliance with IHSA's policies, procedures and standards, best working practices and terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement.
Oversees the effective delivery of quality customer training and services, conducting onsite inspections to monitor staff performance, conducting training sessions/presentations as required, ensuring availability of tools, equipment, training facilities, soliciting feedback on training/service delivery applicability and providing recommendations on program/services modifications/updates.
Provides advice and expertise to senior leaders, consulting staff, clients, IHSA members and customers to share information, provide updates, respond to queries, troubleshoot issues and provide effective solutions and/or alternative approaches.
Collaborates with stakeholders, member and non-member firms, management, trade sectors and employer associations to determine service and training needs and provide recommendations for new programs/services or modifications to existing program/services.
Collaborates with Operations Management Team to provide scheduling/delivery support, share information and insights, resolve issues, and identify opportunities to coordinate operational initiatives and day-to-day activities and streamline processes.
Promotes IHSA services, programs and products, developing business partnerships with members, government agencies and ministries, trade associations, other health and safety associations, non-member firms and other public bodies to understand needs, upcoming changes and new developments and identifying new business/sales opportunities.
Planning:
Develops and executes department operational strategies, developing implementation plans in alignment with overall division/IHSA strategies, determining staff goals and objectives, monitoring progress and ensuring deliverables are effectively managed.
Monitors changing priorities, trends and emerging issues, identifying areas of potential impact to division/department strategic plans, operations and delivery of services and providing recommendations on addressing issues.
Quality & Risk Management:
Develops operations management processes and protocols to manage training/service delivery activities, ensuring compliance with IHSA policies and regulatory/legislative requirements and consistency in information, methodologies and approaches, and collaborating with Regional Management Team to determine opportunities for improvements and synergies.
Identifies opportunities for improving quality and services delivered, ensuring alignment with IHSA strategies and priorities, developing and presenting recommendations, and coaching staff to ensure initiatives are incorporated into day-to-day activities.
Solicits and incorporates feedback and suggestions on areas for improvement.
Evaluates industry/operational information and statistical reports, identifying trends, patterns and potential issues, providing supporting analyses and research, recommending solutions and new approaches, and encouraging executives/managers to embrace new programs/methodologies/technologies.
Staff/Financial Management:
Manages the day-to-day activities of regionally based staff, assigning and directing work, providing advice, resolving issues, ensuring ongoing work quality, monitoring workloads and ensuring staff working in remote locations are supported.
Manages staff performance, career development and talent management activities, conducting performance reviews, identifying development needs and ensuring the availability of skill development, coaching and training opportunities.
Manages staff recruitment activities, determining appropriate numbers and skill mix to meet program/service delivery needs, preparing business cases, conducting interviews and liaising with HR department staff to ensure recruiting, offer and onboarding processes are completed.
Identifies staff performance issues/areas of concern, developing and recommending improvement plans and/or corrective courses of action.
Manages department expenditures, ensuring administrative/financial activities are managed, policies followed, purchase orders are prepared, and expenses are authorized within assigned limits.
Relationship Management:
Develops collaborative working relationships with senior leaders, peers and employees in other departments/divisions across the IHSA and its partner organizations to identify opportunities to share information, provide advice and collaborate on projects and initiatives.
Develops and maintains strategic partnerships and alliances with industry associations and colleagues, to remain current on industry best practices, emerging trends and/or shifts in legislative/government requirements and to promote the initiatives of IHSA.
Represents IHSA at industry meetings/forums/conferences.
Project Management:
Leads projects and strategic initiatives, preparing proposals, determining deliverables and milestones, managing teams/resources and timelines to ensure deliverables are achieved.
Supports IHSA strategic goals through project/committee work, participating on and leading initiatives, sharing insights and managing project activities and progress.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of undergraduate degree; preferably in in Business, Education, Occupational Health and Safety or related field required.
8-10 years progressive operations and management experience required.
CRSP accreditation preferred.
Strong management, interpersonal, problem solving, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication & presentation skills with the ability to effectively communication with individuals at all levels within and outside the organization.
Valid "G" License.
Ability to travel (extensive travel with North & East region).
75% minimum interview score required for consideration.
