We acknowledge that UBC Sauder at UBC Robson Square is situated on the traditional territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh.UBC Sauder delivers a portfolio of undergraduate and professional graduate certificates, diplomas, and degrees in business, independent of Graduate + Postdoctoral Studies.The Recruitment and Admissions unit (R&A) at the UBC Sauder School of Business plays an integral role in the achievement of the UBC Sauder\xe2\x80\x99s commitment to attract, engage and retain students who represent diverse perspectives, experiences and identities ( ) by recruiting well-qualified, high-performing, community-minded, and diverse domestic and international students to meet the school\xe2\x80\x99s enrolment targets and goals.The Manager, Recruitment and Admissions is responsible for the development, implementation and assessment of outreach and marketing strategies, the success of recruitment key performance indicators (KPI), recruitment activities and admission policies, processes and systems, all designed to attract applicants and yield high-calibre students to the business school\'s professional undergraduate and graduate certificates, diplomas and degrees in business, which are critical to the school\'s reputation, revenue generation and success.This role requires domestic and international travel.Organizational Status
Reports to the Director, Recruitment for Professional Graduate Degree programs, receives direction from the Director, Recruitment for Undergraduate + Professional Diploma & Certificate Programs and the Assistant Dean, Recruitment and Admissions. Works closely with other members of the UBC Sauder R&A team, collaborates with other UBC Sauder units, UBC Sauder\xe2\x80\x99s Robert H. Lee Graduate School (RHL), UBC Enrolment Services, International Student Initiative, Commerce Undergraduate Society, UBC Student Housing and Community Services and First Nations House of Learning. The role is highly visible to the external community.Work PerformedStudent Recruitment

  • Researches and analyses markets and applicant pools to identify, develop and implement appropriate recruitment policies, tactics and activities to achieve enrolment goals for RHL professional programs.
  • Manages and shares responsibility with the team on KPIs in support of the unit\xe2\x80\x99s strategic vision and enrolment targets.
  • Designs, executes and assesses the effectiveness of recruitment activities and makes strategic recommendations for improvement. Actively participates in the development and implementation of recruitment plans for new professional graduate degree programs in business.
  • Aligning with the goals of UBC\xe2\x80\x99s Indigenous Strategic Plan and the goals of UBC Sauder\xe2\x80\x99s Indigenous Business Centre, works collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to grow Indigenous student enrolments.
  • Collaborates with leadership on the development and implementation of recruitment strategies and plans with a focus on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), ensuring the recruitment of high-quality cohorts that align with and contribute positively to the school\'s mission and community.
  • Develops and organizes large scale, multi-faceted recruiting events, both in person and online.
  • Conducts advising sessions on program benefits to attract top applicants, leveraging in-depth knowledge of the competitive business school landscape nationally and internationally.
  • Advises prospective international and domestic students, parents, University community, educators and general public on current admission requirements, changing policies, prerequisite studies, transfer credit, program availability, alternative educational options and across all areas of student finances. Explains unfavorable decisions, interprets and applies policy, determining when exceptions are warranted, and coordinates with external agencies as needed.
  • Researches, identifies and conducts visits and presentations to companies for program offerings and fosters relationships for business development opportunities.
  • Designs and executes student retention activities.
Marketing and Promotions
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and assessment of outreach and marketing strategies.
  • Designs, and delivers presentations on professional graduate degrees.
  • Participates in expert panels at national and international recruitment events, discussing trends in graduate management education and representing the school alongside major competitors.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with external organizations and alumni groups for fostering future applicants and students.
  • Conducts competitive analysis and prepares reports on competitor programs locally, nationally, and internationally.
Admissions
  • Provides ongoing review and input into the development of admissions systems and reports.
  • Researches educational systems, grading and credit systems, courses and credentials, and educational financing within Canada and around the world to understand their effect on applications to programs.
  • Evaluates transcripts to advise students on course selection and program options. Assesses advanced credit/transfer credit articulations and advises on registration, program exemptions and program requirements. May conduct mandatory admissions interviews.
  • As a member of the admissions committee, reviews applications and participates in the admissions decision for candidates. Assesses and makes recommendation of candidates for scholarship consideration.
  • Monitors and ensures consistent application of University and University Senate policies and regulations regarding admission assessment of both domestic and international applicants.
  • Analyzes data to assess the admission criteria suitability; reviews and recommends changes to admission policies, procedures and rubrics in order to achieve goals.
  • Has authority to make decisions that are legally binding on the University.
  • Contributes to the ongoing development and improvement of admissions and CRM systems. Reviews and adopts new systems as required to meet the goals of the unit.
\xe2\x80\x8bGeneral Duties
  • Manages the articulation process for Commerce courses transfer credit assessments and collaborates with course coordinators.
  • Serves as primary point of contact for the RHL Graduate school, providing expertise on graduate evaluation criteria and global educational system.
  • Contributes directly to the development of policies and priorities of the unit.
  • Represents the school at public functions and recruiting events. Participates in relevant committees at the university or on external organizations that facilitate the goals of the unit.
  • Assumes responsibility for special projects assigned by Directors, Assistant Dean or the Dean\'s office.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
The position is directly tied to annual revenue generation for the school and university, and makes recommendations and decisions regarding the design, management and effective delivery of student recruitment and admissions activities to ensure enrolment objectives are met. Poor decision-making or judgement would compromise the integrity of UBC Sauder programs and jeopardize the reputation of UBC Sauder. Manages relationships within a multi-cultural and ethnically diverse applicant pool and has the complex task of coordinating and balancing the distinct objectives of various stakeholders, often with conflicting interests. Decisions must be in line with school\xe2\x80\x99s goals, policies and procedures and integrate the vision and direction of the school and the university. Errors in judgement and failure to enroll a high-calibre student body may negatively impact the overall image of the school as an institute for superior management education. Failure to provide sound decisions could result in a loss of confidence of the school and undermine the Dean\'s efforts to raise the school\'s global ranking and reputation.Supervision Received

  • Experience in marketing and student recruitment in a post-secondary setting.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills are mandatory, including proficiency in public speaking, media relations and storytelling. Must be capable of handling communications tactfully and articulately with senior faculty, students, and employees.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills to manage complex workloads.
  • Must excel in navigating complex, interconnected organizational environments.
  • Experience in intercultural settings is considered an asset, enhancing the ability to engage effectively in diverse environments.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in recruitment and admissions software is essential, with experience in Salesforce being an asset.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally and to adapt to flexible working hours is required.
