Under the direction of the Director, Recreation & Culture, the Manager, Recreation Services is responsible for the management and implementation of the work and the achievement of the objectives of the Recreation Services Business Unit within the Recreation & Culture Department. This includes the areas of delivery and administration of leisure programs, the Newmarket Seniors Meeting Place, Youth and Recreation Centre as well as Aquatics programming. This position is responsible for the supervision, coordination and delivery of programs and facility bookings for user groups.

Credentials
Post secondary degree in Recreation Management or an equivalent directly related program combined with progressive experience in the field of recreation programing and management up to a senior level or equivalent level of education or experience.
Class G Driver\'s licence in good standing and a reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
Due to the responsibilities of this position a Police Information Check satisfactory to the Town is required.
Knowledge/Skills Required
Progressively responsible experience at a senior supervisory level.
Strong customer service orientation, interpersonal, consultative, negotiation (e.g. lease agreements) problem-solving, analytical and presentation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Progressive related work experience in recreation and facilities management.
Thorough knowledge of budget preparation and management of operational and capital budgets.
In depth working knowledge of software systems specific to contract development and tracking (e.g. CLASS) through to financial reconciliation with JD Edwards, applications and crystal reports related to all aspects of facility (indoor and outdoor) booking, recreation and culture program registration.
In depth knowledge of theories and the practical application of the concepts (e.g. theory of play), leisure and community development and public and private partnerships.
Demonstrated knowledge in program and project management including partnership development, cost analysis, pricing experience, public relations and promotion skills. * Knowledge in aquatics administration, youth programming and gerontology.
Knowledge of relevant legislative requirements, Public Health Act, facility management Child and Family Aid, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Community Social Services Systems, and Regional Programs.
Expert knowledge of legislative requirements for staff certification (e.g. High Five and Smart Serve).
Knowledge of applicable legislation, bylaws, legal proceedings and the ability to interpret legislation such as Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), and Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as the Employment Standards Act.
General knowledge of program site facility operation and maintenance.
General knowledge of Parks design and planning concepts and theories and interpreting architects\' drawings.
