Your Opportunity





Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations the Manager, Recreation Operations works closely with the Parks Management team to ensure new & existing recreational offerings align with parks & programs needs in a safe and effective manner, contributing to a positive guest experience.


Responsible for the daily operation & maintenance of existing recreational areas and infrastructure across all CH parks: + Terrain Park
+ Ski hill terrain
+ Mountain Bike & Hiking Trail Network
+ Turf Operations
Offer operational support through staff leadership and support of business efforts. Responsible for development of new recreational areas and infrastructure to support park needs, creating industry aligned terrain, features, & trails. Engaging guests through education, awareness & risk management procedures to ensure a positive and safe experience. Collaborate with internal teams to develop and produce signage and visitor education content. Provide active leadership in the risk management program year-round, ensuring alignment with industry best practices by making proactive contributions to the Risk Committee, completion of applicable reporting, and ensuring compliance. Active member of the Designate management team Provide oversight of multiple expense budget lines (Recreation Operations, Snowmaking, Turf operations). Collaborating with other Operations reams for cost sharing and control. Work with the Parks Management team to forecast and develop capital plans to build parks operations with a focus on the guest experience.

Your Qualifications




10+ years' experience in recreation operations and programming, Terrain Park experience, and Risk Management as a focus 5 years' technical expertise in freestyle terrain construction (Mountain Bike and Ski/Snowboard) 3 years' experience in heavy machine operations (Groomers, Tractors, Skid Steers etc.) Technical understanding of basic troubleshooting of electrical and hydraulic systems 3 years' experience in understanding of construction methods and construction site awareness College diploma or university degree in related discipline Formal training and certifications through Ontario Parks Association, IMBA Canada, or Professional Trail building Association considered an asset Experience in trail auditing and reporting, with strong technical understanding of trail building and maintenance Previous experience with staff management in a leadership role Strong leadership & communication skills to support a large staff team, diverse offerings, guest needs, and budget responsibility Financial and project management skills, prior experience in capital planning and implementation Experienced with use of various software and systems (MS Office, Survey123, ArcGIS Field Maps, Dayforce, Freshdesk) Successful candidate will be required to have Standard First Aid and CPR certification A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class "G" with a satisfactory Driver's Abstract is required. Abstract completed by Conservation Halton.
Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Able to work evenings, weekends & holidays. This role will be required to be available at times outside of regularly scheduled work hours to attend meetings, events and/or be available to respond to inquiries and other communication.
