DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Visitor Experience, the Manager, Public Programs and Communications plans and develops the orientation and positioning of public programs aimed at showcasing the Park\xe2\x80\x99s natural and cultural resources. The individual develops tools, messages, and programs and ensures their implementation. The Manager plans and ensures the development of special activities / events for Park users and directs the search for partners. The individual develops and maintains a network of contacts with regional and provincial stakeholders and manages volunteer and public participation programs. The Manager, Public Programs and Communications acts as NCC spokesperson with the media, interest groups and the public, and contributes to the marketing and communication activities for the Park, and its programs. The individual collaborates directly with the various NCC managers, particularly those responsible for marketing, communications, Web site, planning, heritage conservation, and interpretation.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
University degree in management, history, heritage, recreology, tourism or in a related field to this position.

EXPERIENCE
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the following sectors:

  • Planning and managing visitor services or public services programs;
  • Preparing strategies, policies, and/or action plans;
  • Managing personnel and client relations;
  • Managing varied projects, agreements, as well as with contract development and supervision;
  • Developing and managing several types of projects in the following sectors: public activities, events, preparing implementation strategies, developing policies related to public services.
KNOWLEDGE
  • Of the NCC mandate and current guidelines of the Gatineau Park Master Plan;
  • Of interpretation and education in the natural environment and heritage;
  • Of reception and information services, as well as principles and practices relating to engagement with users, citizens, interest groups.

ASSETS
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in a field of expertise relevant to the position.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance;
  • Linguistic profile: Bilingual CCC;
  • Possess a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s licence;
  • Do field work in difficult conditions;
  • May work irregular hours, nights, weekends;
  • Work mainly from the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre.
