Departmental Overview



Through branding and marketing, we want students to feel connected to USC and understand the value we bring to Western's campus and undergraduates. USC's Communications portfolio leads the organization's communications, issues management, media relations, marketing, and branding initiatives, ensuring alignment with the strategic plan and student executives' political priorities. The Communications team uses email newsletters, sponsor and influencer collaborations, testimonials, paid digital and print advertising, digital and physical campaigns, contesting and engagement, earned media, social media, and brand journalism to achieve our goals.

Job Summary



Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications, the Manager, Promotions leads the USC's promotional strategies to build student awareness and engagement with the organization's services, businesses, and events. This role develops and implements creative, student-centered campaigns for operations such as The Spoke, The Wave, PurpleCARE, Mustang on Demand, and the Purple Store. Working closely with the Communications team, the Manager oversees the USC's promotional platforms--including Bounce and the USC app--and directs the Hype Team to deliver on-the-ground activations that strengthen the USC's campus presence and connection with Western students.

Duties and Responsibilities



Work collaboratively with members of the Communications Department to execute communication campaigns. Lead promotional campaigns for USC operations including The Spoke and The Wave; PurpleCARE, Mustang on Demand, Purple Store and more. Implement strategies such as contests, giveaways, or interactive elements to enhance participation and engagement with the established target audiences. Oversee the USC's event platform, Bounce, including user management, event input, and content updates. Lead on-the-ground promotional activities at USC events and programs including attendee communication. Direct, motivate, and monitor the mobilization of the USC's Hype Team to advance promotional goals. Ensure all promotional activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and USC approved best practices. Prepare post-campaign reports, analyze key metrics, and provide insights for future improvements. Oversee the USC's app, including user management, input events, updating content and ideating communication strategies to promote the app on campus
Other Duties as Assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS



Education



A degree in advertising, public relations, marketing, communications or equivalent experience.

Experience



2-3 years experience working in the marketing or communications field
Education and Experience may be combined during consideration.

Detail-oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Exceptional project management, time management and organizational skills, with the ability to establish priorities and meet competing deadlines. Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Strong understanding of emerging digital tools and trends. Basic understanding of website design and principles. Basic design skills (has used Canva or Adobe products).
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
