Location: Hybrid (Montreal or Toronto)

The Manager, Project Initiatives is a key member of the Group Benefits (GB) Finance team. In this role, you will work independently and collaboratively with members of the Group Benefits Finance team, Application Services, SunRise Project Team and other Business Units to configure and implement key systems and processes supporting GB Finance initiatives.

What will you do?

• Manage the implementation of various business units\xe2\x80\x99 projects that impact the accounting system and processes, including the 3416 audit program.
• Responsible for interpreting, documenting and testing of system changes.
• Provide coaching on changes driven by various projects that impact the accounting (SAP/EFDW) and finance processes.
• Lead the creation of new reporting from the SAP/EFDW and support investigation of financial statements issues.
• Identify, track and resolve accounting issues in collaboration with the Finance team.
• Identify improved controls and efficiencies in processes.

What do you need to succeed?

• 5+ years of experience in a finance or accounting role, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to explain difficult concepts to audiences of different levels of understanding.
• Strong project management and presentation skills.
• As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.
• Required to attain Canadian Reliability Security Clearance.

Assets

• University degree in Accounting is preferred.
• CPA designation (attained or in progress).
• Experience in Insurance Accounting or in a Canadian financial corporation is preferred.
• Knowledge of IFRS 17 is preferred.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
