The Manager, Project Finance and Reporting contributes to the overall success of the CTO\'s Strategic Portfolio Office globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team\'s business strategies and objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible to ensure timely and consistent financial management and program reporting as per established standards enabling the financial planning and analysis processes for the following Business Line Portfolios, primarily: Canadian Banking, Global Wealth Management, and Digital Banking. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Working with the Senior Manager, Governance & Analysis as well as cross-functional business and support functions, the incumbent is responsible to:
  • Provide oversight, support and monitoring for all aspects of project finance on behalf of CTO\'s Strategic Portfolio Office and is responsible for the management of discrepancy/variance analytics and project financial reporting. Includes data mapping, data quality/integrity testing, data analytics and data governance.
  • Provides support and coaching to Project Managers, and others as required, to ensure project financials are managed in a robust and controlled manner.
  • Manage governance forums as required with primarily business stakeholders, technology partners and other support functions.
  • Meeting PMO KPIs for Project Financials and meeting established Finance timelines within the monthly cycle
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for Project Financials & Forecasting Accuracy best practices; proactively identifies opportunities to improve reporting and/or drive the use of analytics.
  • Builds effective working relationships within the team and partnerships with Bank\'s stakeholders including CB Finance, EPMO Project Controls, Portfolio Directors, Sr. Portfolio Analysts, and Project Delivery Teams.
  • Maintains effective controls over the accounting processes to ensure the reliability of the financial records and investigates any significant and/or unusual variance or questionable trends to provide business insights.
  • Actively seeks and evaluates opportunities for increased efficiency through automation and works with key stakeholders to implement changes as appropriate.
  • Respond to ad-hoc investigations, inquiries, data, and report requests as assigned
  • Ability to design and develop/enhance innovative reporting solutions using Power BI is an asset
  • Understand how the Bank\'s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank\'s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
  • Minimum education level of a University Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance
  • Working towards or have CPA or other accounting designation is a plus
  • 5+ years experience working in the financial reporting ideally in Financial Sector or Banking industry is preferred, preferably within Finance, IT or Project Management.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end Project Life Cycle and Software Development Lifecycle
  • Exposure to stakeholder management across highly matrixed organizations
  • Expert knowledge of MS Excel, MS Access and VBA
  • Proficient experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Strong knowledge of data management, aggregation and analysis techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and experience with presentations
  • Strong business acumen, planning and organization skills
  • Flexibility and adaptable to rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines
  • Strong work ethic, continuous improvement mindset with a can-do attitude
  • Strong problem-solving skills
