The Manager, Project Controls, manages the Project Controls team while monitoring and tracking all aspects of project oversight. The Manager supports oversight of project cost, schedule, and risk, for management of in-year billing rates, and for monthly forecast reporting of projects to Quanta Services, Inc. The Manager monitors and reports on project cost, schedule, and risk to the President, associated Vice Presidents and Project Directors with the objective of continuous improvement and early escalation of potential issues.

In addition, your role will be to:

  • Manage Direct Reports.
  • Build, lead and empower a diverse and capable project controls team.
  • Cultivate a work environment committed to the health, safety, and wellness of employees.
  • Establish a highly efficient and positive culture where employees are empowered and accountable for areas of responsibility.
  • Lead the Project Controls team in identifying areas of continuous improvement through oversight of project cost, schedule, risk, determining project delivery efficiencies while retaining a professional standard.
  • Monitor cost, schedule, risk, rates, and forecasts using Vantagepoint project management tools, dashboards, and software.
  • Produce a monthly report on cost, schedule and risk oversight status for project Executives and Directors with inputs from the Controls team.
  • Track project management issues, proposed action items, deliverables, and/or corrective actions for implementation by project team members and include in monthly reporting. Follow up for status.
  • Oversee project setup by the Controls team for consistency in the quality of data management from project start through closeout. Participate in setup as required.
  • Oversee Project Controls\xe2\x80\x99 in-year management of billing rates.
  • Participate in quality audit reviews for compliance to corporate policy and process requirements and incorporate identification and follow-up of any corrective actions in the monthly report to project Executives.
  • Communicate project status and resource changes to appropriate team members.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in planning, project management, accounting, administration, or business.
  • Minimum 4 years work experience in a project driven environment, in a Project Controls role.
  • Professional experience in a management or supervisory position.
  • Team leadership qualities (e.g., able to empower, listen, motivate, strategize, support, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Keen analytical ability.
  • Exceptional computer skills, MS Project, Excel, Word, Access, and experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is preferred.
  • Ability to isolate root cause, develop corrective actions, and to identify necessary changes to business workflows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • PMP designation considered an asset.
