Why this role is important?
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Analytics & Planning, this role is responsible for data systems and tools that support analysis, management and execution of the generic component of Shoppers Drug Mart's Pharmacy Procurement program. The scope of the role encompasses the following broad functions: SQL Server database development and optimization, advanced reporting (including Power BI and operational reports), decision support tools development, analytical modeling, and technical documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Program Data & Reporting
Identify key data requirements supporting pharmaceutical procurement store programs
o Generic Medicine Utilization Program
o Formulary Purchase Program
o Internal Asset Utilization Program
Develop views, scripts, and validation queries for these programs.
Within established cadences, ensure reports are distributed to each of the required levels.
Design comprehensive processes to track year-over-year performances, supporting suitable benchmarking and auditing activities.
Dashboard & Tool Design
Responsible for compelling dashboard and tool designing to support and understand the Canadian pharmaceutical market dynamics
o Market Intel
o Portfolio Managemen
o Rx Financial Plan Tracker
o Store Pharmaceutical Waste Mitigation Management Strategies
Identify Key Performance Metrics across all these projects and provide key data and reporting requirements to the System Developer.
Design Dynamic, Refreshable Dashboards (from executive-level to store-level, where applicable) to support key decision-making strategies.
Design Tools to Facilitate "What If" scenarios, support Cross Functional Impact analysis, and drive insights.
Database Management & Optimization
Maintain, monitor, and optimize the databases underpinning the store programs.
Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of critical data assets, including master data and product attributes.
Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement
Establish a feedback loop to ingest feedback from external sources.
Brainstorm improvements, optimization, and expansion opportunities for existing and/or new programs.
Work with Operations and leadership to ensure proper and timely communications are sent out.
Information Sharing & Platform Sustainability
Develop streamlined information sharing strategies to support 2-way dialogue.
Where possible, seek alternate tools and platforms to support sustainability and continuity.
Documentation
Ensure appropriate documentation is assembled and available for reference and for transitioning purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a university degree in Business, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Science or similar.
3 - 5 years supply chain and analytical experience in the pharmaceutical or food industry with exposure to a broad array of analysis techniques
Expert level with Excel, Power BI, VBA, Access, SQL (and other relational databases)
Excellent analytical skills
Experienced in SAP
Statistics background would be considered an asset
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Effective project management skills.
Able to maintain strong working relationships with internal employees and with external partners.
In addition to excellent analytic skills, the candidate must be able to interpret and present information (both written and verbal) in an engaging, meaningful way.
