Reporting to the Director, Product Lifecycle Strategy, we are seeking a highly organized and dynamic Manager, Product Development Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, overseeing, and executing product development engineering activities from conception through completion. The Manager, Product Development Engineer, will work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a proven track record of successfully managing product development projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Coach, develop and lead the engineering team members, providing direction, support, and performance feedback.
  • Provide engineering direction on product development projects.
  • Ensure the team utilizes the best practices in engineering and product development methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to define product development project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Ensure the implementation of the Product Development Process and Product Change Process.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of existing systems and processes to identify areas for automation.
  • Develop automation solutions using industry-standard tools and technologies.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to enhance the team\'s capabilities.
  • Hands-on involvement in designing, developing, testing, and deploying automation solutions.
  • Establish and maintain rigorous testing and validation processes to ensure the reliability and performance of automation and AI systems.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the product development team.
  • Monitor team performance against established metrics, and implement improvements as needed.
  • Prepare and present performance reports to senior management.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Engineering, mechanical or mechatronics preferred
  • Membre of the Ordre des ing\xc3\xa9nieurs du Qu\xc3\xa9bec required.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience as an automation engineer in systems integrationor in electrical, controls and automation or systems design in devices and equipment, preferably in the healthcare industry
  • Minimum five (3) years experience leading a team
  • Understanding of product development processes such as plastic injection molding, plastic machining and prototyping with the use of resin 3D printers
  • Understanding of medical device design controls / quality systems and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of AI and AI product integration an asset
  • Excellent communication skills; Fluent French and English (oral & written) required. This role will manage employees in the USA.
  • Strong listening skills, very customer focused and professional.
  • Proven abilities to apply good judgement, ethical practice and decision-making skills.
  • Detail oriented, ability to apply analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Teams and Excel) required
  • Experience using 3D software (SolidWorks considered asset).
  • Available to travel occasionally.
