About this role:

The Procurement Manager, Redwater & Fort Saskatchewan is an on-site leader who will help Nutrien to create and develop best-in-class standards for procurement activities across select Nutrien Nitrogen business unit. This person reports to the Sr. Manager, Regional Procurement Nitrogen Canada, and the role requires mimimal travel.

What you will do:

  • Be an active member of Site Leadership Team (LT). Gather input from LT members in terms of key Site priorities and inform Procurement contributions and generated value
  • Fully understand Nitrogen Operations Priorities (Safe, Reliable, Efficient, Growth) and Site-specific Goals & Objectives, and the challenges and opportunities to face every year
  • Build a relationship with Sites stakeholders and develop a network of contacts throughout the maintenance, operations, SH&E, and engineering teams
  • Active member of major Turnarounds (TAR) planning and execution process. Define Procurement resources and ensure full alignment and support to TAR team
  • Agile and effective support to Unplanned Outages, defining Procurement resources and assigning R&R
  • Lead a Site Procurement team and provide them with hands-on support and guidance to make their work more efficient and effective while building a collaborative workplace with an inclusive environment where psychological safety prevails
  • Discuss and define clear Goals & Objectives for everyone and periodically review their progress, providing constructive feedback and coaching
  • Get a detailed understanding of Site spend per category/sub-category and supplier
  • Support implementation of Category Management & SPIN (Strategic Procurement Integration) project initiatives
  • Effective planning and execution of SS&VG (Strategic Sourcing & Value Generation) Initiatives
  • Own, manage and control Site contracts and MSAs (Master Service Agreements) with the support of the Legal, Insurance, Treasury, EH&S teams
  • Collaborate with Site stakeholders and Category Management to establish and monitor Supplier Relationship Management & Supplier Performance Management (with agreed metrics/KPIs)
  • Plan and execute QBRs (Quarterly Business Reviews) at the Site level with the most critical Category Management and Site contractors and suppliers
  • Periodically report executed TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) savings and VALUE beyond savings accomplishments
  • Get detailed understanding of end-to-end purchase to pay process from the WO (work order) and PR (Purchase Requisition) creation and approval to invoice payment. Identify the re-touch/recycle/rework root causes and explore/implement root solutions
  • Define and achieve Purchase-to-Pay optimization and automation goals including:
  • Free Text transactions reduction
  • Increase the effective utilization of Punchout Catalogs and eQuote functionality by end users
  • Increase the number of Auto PO transactions against OAs (Outline Agreements)
  • In collaboration with MRO CM, respective suppliers, and Warehouse team, explore and implement Vending & VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) optimization
  • Develop plans to reduce ISN C & F contractors
  • Educate key stakeholders on Nutrien and Procurement Policies and Procedures
  • Work closely with the Procurement Systems & Governance team and IT team on key initiatives impacting their site
What you will bring:
  • Minimum 6+ years relevant experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, and supply chain management through leadership roles
  • Minimum of 3+ years of direct or indirect leadership experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Administration, Finance, or related field
  • Certifications in disciplines such as Procurement (SCMP/CPSM), Inventory Management (CIPS), Lean Six Sigma, or Operational Planning is preferred
  • Experience at a large industrial site, preferably in a chemical or oil and gas industry
  • Experience in planning, leading the effective execution of Procurement (Materials, critical parts, and services) related activities and major contractors\' management during major Turnarounds
  • Must have experience with major categories such as: MRO: PVF, B&PT, Electrical, General Industrial Supplies, Engineered Equipment, Chemicals, Plant Services, Specialty Services
  • Broad experience in S2C and PtP processes and resources, and a more targeted experience in spend analytics, competitive sourcing, supplier negotiations, SRM, contract administration
  • Solid experience with, enterprise asset management systems SAP, spend management tools (e.g., Ariba, Analysis & Reports), data management tools and S2P systems (eProcurement)
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement transformation and change within an operating site setting
  • Setting procurement/supply chain strategy in an operating site environment; driving performance; consistently producing superior results in a team-based collaborative environment; and working with dynamic, diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • Clear understanding of TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) model and its practical use
  • Demonstrated track record of VALUE generation through implementation of procurement strategies and contract negotiations
  • Strong understanding of moderate to complex contract language and Terms & Conditions
  • Ideally, the candidate will have experience with, Microsoft 365, analytical software, Power BI Dashboards, ERP systems (SAP), spend management and Ariba
