Our Team:

Our Sudbury Operations have been in existence for more than 100 years. With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world. Sudbury is also home to several administrative sites serving both the Ontario Operations as well as all our North Atlantic Operations.

Port Colborne is home to our Nickel Refinery where raw materials from our Sudbury operations are processed into electrocobalt and precious metals and serves as a distribution center for finished nickel products.

The Opportunity

The incumbent will monitor and report the overall status of the project portfolio, providing a multilevel view through indicators and criteria defined and agreed with stakeholders through consolidation of monthly data on planning and physical, economic and financial execution of the projects, through the definition and monitoring of standards and procedures common to all project, which refer to the best practices of planning and controls of large enterprises.

Additional in this position, you will;

  • Ensure a theoretical and practical structure that allows the optimization and delivery of organizational strategic objectives, maximizing value within the required parameters.
  • Through its deliverables, promote awareness and outline good portfolio management practices.
  • Ensure that the components of the portfolio align with the unfolding of the corporate strategy, with the expectations of the business units and with the plans established for the projects.
  • Ensure the proper management of short, medium and long-term goals and performance indicators.
  • Monitor and report the overall status of the portfolio, providing a multilevel view through indicators and criteria defined and agreed with stakeholders.
  • Standardization and improvement of project processes across the NAPG project portfolio ensuring sufficient systems and procedures are implemented.
  • Ensure the management of the risks inherent to the implementation of projects.
  • Support the implementation of key components, optimization tools, strategic alignment and governance of portfolio management as recommended by PMI and APM.
  • Stimulate new thinking and contribute to the development of portfolio management practice.
  • Ensure confidence in the decision-making process with a view to achieving the objectives established for the project portfolio and the creation and maintenance of value.
  • Empower and inspire the team to make the necessary changes, take initiatives, and execute their routines successfully, providing vision, direction, feedback, and support, so that people can do their best work in an aggregating and inclusive environment.
About You

Education:
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering/Finance/Project Management is highly desired.
Preferred Certification:
  • PMP Certification is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience in similar subject area.
Skills:
  • Knowledge of Portfolio, Program and Project Management
  • Understanding of Project Management Fundamentals with a firm understanding of the relationship between project scope, quality, risk, costs, and schedule.
  • Knowledge and operation of software such as:
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, SharePoint, Teams, Power BI, Visio, etc.).
  • SAP
  • Power BI
  • Microsoft Power Apps
  • Knowledge of Project and Portfolio management standards, such as:
  • PMI (PMBok and The Standard for Portfolio Management)
  • APM (Portfolio Management: A practical Guide and APM\xc2\xae body of knowledge)
  • Knowledge in FEL Methodology.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic project environment.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience in Project Control Systems. (SAP, etc.).
