Job Description


As a Manager, People you will report to the VP, People to support Edelman\'s Canadian businesses. You will serve as a point of contact on questions and issues from employees, managers, and across the firm, and will advise the business on various HR policies and procedures. You will also be responsible for creating, driving, and amplifying People programing which creates an exceptional employee experience. The role will collaborate and partner closely with various HR centers of excellence, including Employee Relations (ER), Talent Acquisition (TA), Compensation & Benefits, Talent Management, Shared Operations & Reporting, as well as with various People partner functions. Specific areas of support will include fielding general People inquiries and directing them to the appropriate People team, managing our headcount process with Finance, partnering with Recruiters to track and report on Talent Acquisition activity/progress, supporting various reporting requests, and executing changes to employee job titles/grades. This role will manage many of our employee experience programs such as, our Goal Setting and Mid-Year/Year End performance review processes, Wellness program, compensation review, etc. This role will be a hybrid position and will be based out of our Toronto, Ontario office. \

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the VP, People, you support execution and implementation of HR strategies, which support the Line of Business goals.
  • Support the VP, People in advising managers on People programs, processes, and initiatives such as Performance Management, Headcount, Talent Acquisition, Engagement, L&D, promotions etc.
  • Serve as a point of contact on People questions and issues raised by employees and managers.
  • Consult with appropriate people teams on various business issues ranging from salary recommendations, staffing, and training, employee relations and general inquiries.
  • Support the VP, People on talent identification and development processes and initiatives
  • As appropriate, act as first level support for Employee Relations issues; partner with ER team to stay appraised of any issues and escalate as needed; collaborate with the ER team to identify potential issues identified during the exit process
  • Oversee/Manage the administration and reporting of people transactions for the business (e.g., requisitions/hiring, terminations, re-orgs, job changes etc.)
  • Coordinate various information/data requests and works with People Reporting to create custom reports for business needs
  • Ensure People transactions, reports and records are created and maintained, in compliance with established procedures.
  • Oversee/Manage Promotion programs with the business by advising on process and application, and responsible for tracking and reporting
  • Oversee/Manage the maintenance and upkeep of job family structures and descriptions within the business
  • Run employee experience programs such as: health and wellness, training, performance management, L&D, etc
  • As needed, provide support for other people programs (DEI, Engagement Surveys, People Planning Process, mobility, Etc.)
  • Build relationships with all levels of employees and managers through trust and with skills to build teams and consensus.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent experience required
  • 4+ years of relevant Human Resources experience; proficiency with various HR functions and processes
  • Knowledge of Edelman business areas strongly preferred, with an ability to be viewed as a credible partner to the business
  • Exceptional relationship management and interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully negotiate and influence; ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent reporting and data analysis capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word, with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily
  • Demonstrated client focus and strong action orientation, with an ability to think independently and creatively, and take ownership of critical issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proven ability to manage time, priorities, and projects
