Position Summary:
The People & Culture Manager role is a facility specific role and is the lead for the department to successfully meet the facility goals and objectives and manages all People & Culture functions within the plant. Ensures compliance to all regulations. Provides information to other leaders as necessary. The People & Culture Manager reports directly to the Vice President People & Culture with a dotted line to the site General Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direction and guidance to the General Manager, Site team managers and all other team members on HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistency
Actively participate as a functional resource on business team ensuring human resources is an integral part of the business strategy
Keep team members, managers, general manager and leadership members advised on changes
Play an integral part in the facility engagement survey results through integrating cultural values in the day-to-day business activities
Provide direction to Site Management in interpretation and application of employee-related policies, practices and procedures, as well as applicable laws if applicable, governmental regulations, and internal investigations to enhance consistency and maintain and improve the work environment of the facility.
Provide employment and personnel services including hiring new employees, administering benefits, providing appropriate training, and ensuring a safe work environment. Coordinate programs for management recruiting and selection. Ensure the effective delivery of support services for the internal posting program.
Provide directives considering impact upon the company (financial), employee engagement, and consideration for the future (new practices, policies, and procedures)
Support and maintain regional point of contacts for competitive businesses for local wage and benefit surveys to be conducted
Formulate and/or implement policies, practices and procedures related to employment practices, appropriate training, benefits, and safety
Develop and coordinate, training, development, and promotion to ensure proper and effective staffing, personnel selection and practices, manpower planning and succession planning, skills development, training, policy & practice interpretation and application
Assist managers in addressing individual and organizational effectiveness issues and compensation administration
Preparation of presentations for Department and Leadership Meetings Ensure the timely updating of Action Plans, Departmental Goals, Key Performance Indicators and provide reports as required or requested.
Accountable for the fair administration of the discipline process.
Monitor departmental spending, provide input into business planning and annual budget.
Ensure the positive induction of new employees by providing New Hire Orientations when required.
Assist in development of Continuous Improvement initiatives and manage resulting projects to completion and implementation as assigned, including action plans
Performs other duties as necessary in support of departmental goals.
Comply with requirements as outlined in the company handbook and OHSA.
Follows and comply with all Operational Procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (i.e. IATF, ISO 14001)
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in human resources or Business-related degree
Minimum of 5 years of experience in challenging senior HR positions with deep knowledge of manufacturing operations
Minimum of 3 years' experience developing & implementing best in class health and safety programs
Strong knowledge of employment law
Experience with Lean Manufacturing philosophy is a definite asset
High energy and self-motivated; confident leading change
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong project management and presentation skills
Requires some experience in employee relations, benefits, compensation, personnel and training with a working knowledge of operations
