Role Overview



The

People & Culture Leader

serves as the guardian of SharpLight's values and the architect of a high-performing, engaged, and empowered team culture. This role bridges strategy with humanity--ensuring that every member feels valued, inspired, and aligned with the company's mission of innovation, partnership, and excellence.

Acting as both a strategic business partner and cultural ambassador, the People & Culture Leader drives initiatives that support growth, retention, leadership development, and organizational health. This individual shapes the systems, structures, and spirit that make SharpLight not only a great place to work--but a place where people thrive, belong, and illuminate their potential.

Key Responsibilities



1. Leadership & Culture Development



Champion SharpLight's Era of Illuminationvalues and embed them into daily operations, communication, and leadership practices. Cultivate a culture of accountability, integrity, and high performance across all levels. Partner with the Executive Team to design leadership programs, mentorship initiatives, and growth pathways. Facilitate engagement surveys, team-building initiatives, and recognition programs that strengthen team cohesion and morale.

2. People Strategy & Workforce Planning



Lead the development and execution of the People Strategy, aligning talent management with business objectives. Collaborate with department heads to forecast staffing needs, succession plans, and leadership pipelines. Support strategic workforce planning during expansion, mergers, or organizational change.

3. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding



Oversee the recruitment process to attract top talent who align with SharpLight's culture and vision. Build employer branding initiatives that highlight SharpLight as a destination workplace in the medical aesthetics industry. Ensure a seamless, engaging, and inspiring onboarding experience for all new members.

4. Performance & Growth Enablement



Oversee the performance management process, ensuring clarity of expectations, ongoing feedback, and career growth conversations. Establish competency frameworks and individual development plans. Introduce measurable OKRs (Objectives & Key Results) that drive focus and transparency.

5. Member Experience & Engagement



Act as the advocate for employee experience and well-being across the organization. Create programs that celebrate milestones, diversity, and belonging. Develop internal communication platforms and recognition systems (e.g., SharpSpace, SharpInsider).

6. Policy, Compliance & People Operations



Ensure compliance with employment standards, health and safety regulations, and company policies. Oversee payroll, benefits administration, and total rewards strategy in partnership with Finance. Regularly review and modernize policies to reflect growth, innovation, and inclusivity.

7. Legal



Partner with external legal counsel to manage employment-related matters (terminations, contracts, workplace investigations, and policy reviews) as well as other corporate legal matters

Support drafting, reviewing, and maintaining employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, and confidentiality/non-compete clauses. Lead or support the response process for employee claims, general claims, investigations, or regulatory audits to mitigate risk. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labor law changes and proactively adjust practices and documentation. Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on legal and ethical considerations in people-related decisions.

Qualifications & Attributes



7+ years of progressive HR or People & Culture leadership experience. Strong understanding of Canadian employment law and HR best practices. Proven ability to design and implement culture and leadership development programs. Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business goals into people strategies. Exceptional communication, empathy, and relationship-building skills. Experience in high-growth, purpose-driven, or innovative industries.
