Manager, People, Culture and Safety

ERTH Corporation is seeking a dynamic individual with proven experience to join our team as a Manager, People, Culture and Safety.

Based upon qualifications and experience of a candidate, this position could be elevated to a Director level.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position will collaborate with the Executive team and provide strategic and operational leadership to the ERTH Group of companies.

The Manager will oversee the daily operations of the HR department to implement policies, programs, and the full range of HR services including employee recruitment, retention, engagement, training and development. The Manager will lead the safety program advancing an exemplary health and safety program, supporting employees to reach their full potential. The Manager will assist with labour relations and act as the Privacy Officer.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction on all HR functions, including talent acquisition, retention and management.
  • Manage HR activities including payroll/benefits and the recruitment process including facilitating and coordinating advertising, shortlisting, interviews, reference checks and offers of employment.
  • Oversee new employee on-boarding process.
  • Responsible for reporting and metrics, developing policies and procedures in line with Corporate values.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and advice to employees and managers, on a wide range of people issues to maximize the capability of all employees.
  • Support positive labour relations activities such as collective bargaining negotiations and pay equity reviews.
  • Provide interpretation of the collective agreements; manage workplace complaints, lead and participate in meetings regarding labour relation issues.
  • Oversee Corporate Health & Safety program, including the development of relevant policies, annual budgets, implementation and administration of approved programs.
  • Lead the integration of health, safety and wellbeing management and ensure compliance to all applicable local legislative obligations to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Identify relevant opportunities and make recommendations to improve processes, workplace health and safety, and quality and service delivery outcomes.
  • Investigate work place incidents and facilitate the implementation of risk mitigation measures
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Human Resources or related discipline or Human Resources Managements Certificate.
  • Certified Humans Resources professional designation or similar designation.
  • Minimum five-year managerial level, HR generalist across a wide range of competencies.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of various standards and acts, including
  • Employment Standards Act
  • Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Workplace safety and Insurance Act
  • Pay Equity legislations,
  • Personal Information Protections and Electronic Documents Act
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, confidentiality and high ethical standards.
