We are seeking an experienced and meticulous Payroll Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Director, Total Rewards, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of payroll and time processes for Canadian employees and all expatriates, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable about Canadian payroll regulations and possesses excellent analytical, problem-solving, customer service and communication skills. Expertise in SAP and Workday would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead overall payroll operations and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and time for all employees (salaried, fixed rate, temporary, expatriates).
  • Supervise and handle all aspects of SAP Time and Schedule including queries, configuration and maintenance of schedules.
  • Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local laws, as well as company policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, and IT, to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes with other business functions.
  • Conduct audits of payroll data, ensuring accuracy. Facilitate investigation of data discrepancies/errors and resolve in a timely manner.
  • Stay up to date with changes in Canadian payroll legislation and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports, including year-end tax forms, to government authorities and internal stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of payroll software, ensuring it aligns with Canadian payroll regulations and internal policies.
  • Handle sensitive employee information ensuring confidentiality and integrity of data.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and managers regarding payroll-related inquiries, issues, and policies.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during payroll audits and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop payroll team members, fostering a collaborative, efficient and hard-working work environment.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve/enhance payroll and time processes, provide insights and recommendations.
Qualifications:
  • Professional certification such as the Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation is highly desirable.
  • 5 years of related managerial experience.
  • Extensive experience in Canadian payroll management, including a strong understanding of federal, provincial, and local payroll regulations.
  • Experience with a large ERP payroll system such as SAP and confirmed experience in optimizing payroll systems.
  • Robust system experience with ability to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Sophisticated proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and payroll best practices.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet timelines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Shown leadership skills and the ability to coach and develop a team.
