About the Role



We are hiring a Manager of TPM & Safety to help continue to build our high performing operations and join us in our mission to create healthy spaces for people to live, work and play in a sustainable way. This role will oversee our TPM & Safety programs to increase employee health and safety, and create opportunities for cost savings, product quality, and operational improvements. The manager will work across all teams in the company to ensure our facilities and safety programs meet our goals of operational excellence and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities



Health and Safety

Develop, implement and continuously improve health and safety programs in alignment with regulatory standards and industry best practices.

Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and inspections to identify hazards, evaluate potential risks, and recommend appropriate preventative or corrective measures applying the hierarchy of controls.

Build a culture of safety and continuous improvement to help create a safe and positive work environment for all employees.

Lead and manage the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC), holding monthly meetings, recoding minutes, inspections and ensuring actions are completed; establish and report on safety KPIs

Responsible for all WorkSafeBC (WSBC) reporting and communications (incidents / leaves, inspections, compliance reports etc.).

Deliver safety training programs and facility orientations to new staff.

Manage first-aid program and training, ensuring regulatory compliance and coverage.

Establish, monitor and report on safety KPIs and injury reports.

TPM Management

Plan and design plant layouts and facilities

Study new machinery and facilities and recommend or select efficient combinations

Develop flexible or integrated manufacturing systems and procedures

Analyze costs of production

Develop performance standards, evaluation systems and wage and incentive programs

Conduct studies of the reliability and performance of plant facilities and production or administrative systems

Develop maintenance standards, schedules and programs

Establish programs and conduct studies to enhance industrial health and safety or to identify and correct fire and other hazards

Evaluate or assess industrial facilities

Supervise technicians, technologists, analysts, administrative staff and other engineers.

Responsible for developing and implementation of TPM philosophy ad program.

Assure that all TPM implementation activities will be aligned with the policies and procedures defined at the MET (Manufacturing Excellence Team).

Lead Oxygen8's development of a Kaizen program including 5S and Lean manufacturing methodologies and tools.

Develop and support Kaizen Multipliers and KPIs including training, coaching & mentoring team members.

Define Kaizen projects, aims, and resources to reach targets to eliminate the 8 WASTES.

Assist in the development of training materials to provide to the team on LEAN Manufacturing concepts overall.

Design, develop and conduct time studies and work simplification programs.

Determine human resource and skill requirements and develop training programs.

Evaluate or assess industrial facilities to best suit operations targets and KPIs.

Responsible for managing all tool requests, repairs, and overall upkeep

Experience & Skills Required



Degree in relevant Engineering discipline with preference to mechanical and industrial engineering

TPM, 5S, Kaizen, 6-Sigma or LEAN certificate[SG1] OR dedicated training in the area

Minimum 5 years experience in a large-scale manufacturing or industrial environment at the managerial level

Experience establishing and leading safety committees and running safety training programs from the ground up

Experience facilitating safety audits and conducting safety inspections of facilities, equipment and processes

Excellent communication ability, including negotiation skills and assertiveness

Excellent time management and problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task and execute

Solid computer skills (Excel, ERP experience considered an asset)

Location and Schedule:



Metro Vancouver: 5085 North Fraser Way, Burnaby BC V5G 3K4 and 1575 Vernon Drive, Vancouver BC V6A 3P8. Please note this role requires the ability to work and visit all of our site locations!

Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm [TBD]

40 hours per week

Compensation:



$91,520 - $100,000
