Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and driven

Manager of Food Safety & Quality Management (FSQM)

to lead our food safety, compliance, quality control and assurance programs. Reporting to the Head of Innovation & Governance, you will oversee all aspects of product safety, compliance, and quality, ensuring Brunswick Bierworks exceeds internal standards and regulatory requirements across all levels of production.

This is a leadership position, suited for someone with strong technical expertise, people leadership skills, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities



Leadership & Strategy



Lead and manage the Food Safety/Quality Control/Quality Assurance programs and team. Build and sustain strong relationships across departments and with external partners, including clients, regulators, auditors, and certification bodies. Develop and implement long-term quality and food safety strategies aligned with company goals. Drive a high-performance culture focused on talent growth, engagement, and accountability.

Compliance & Technical Excellence



Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations and certifications (e.g., SFCR, FSMA, HACCP, FSSC, COR, Organic, Kosher, NGPV, GFCO). Monitor, maintain, and improve key certifications. Lead internal audits and corrective action plans as needed. Review and update the HACCP plan, food safety risk assessments, SOPs, and quality procedures.

Operations & Analytics



Supervise lab testing and data analysis for microbiological, sensory, and physical/chemical parameters Review ingredient specifications, production processes, and new recipes for food safety and compliance risks. Use advanced Excel skills to track KPIs and drive decisions based on quality data trends. Coordinate lab proficiency testing, operator proficiency testing, equipment calibration schedules, and equipment validation.

Collaboration & Communication



Support R&D and commissioning activities by providing technical assessments and sampling plans. Act as the quality liaison for client inquiries and product feasibility/improvement reviews. Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on food safety and quality performance.

Qualifications

:



University degree in Quality Assurance, Food Science, Biotechnology, or a related field. Valid

PCQI

certification. Valid

HACCP I & II

certifications. 4-10 years of relevant experience in food or beverage manufacturing. At least 2 years of leadership or management experience. Strong understanding of food safety regulations and brewing or beverage processes. Proficiency in microbiological techniques and lab equipment operations. Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; comfortable with data-driven decision making Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. High attention to detail and analytical thinking. Agile, adaptable, and capable of prioritizing in a fast-paced environment. Committed to Quality, Food Safety, and continuous improvement. Excellent time management, organizational, and planning capabilities.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements



Office-based with frequent walkthroughs in a production environment. Occasionally lifting up to 50L kegs during inspections or demonstrations. High attention to detail and use of sensory analysis for taste testing. Exposure to tight deadlines and shifting priorities in a dynamic industry.
