The Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation is the official fundraising arm of the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre, fulfilling requests from the Windsor Regional Cancer Program. These include purchasing state-of-the-art equipment, funding patient amenities, and supporting initiatives such as the Patient Assistance Fund and Dr. Hakam Abu-Zahra Research Fund. 100% of funds raised stay local, helping provide world-class cancer care close to home. To date, community support has helped raise over $35 million.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Finance Manager provides leadership and oversight for all financial operations of the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation. This role manages all aspects of financial operations, including bookkeeping, accounting, payroll administration, group benefits, budgeting, and financial planning, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance. The position supports sound financial planning, effective resource management, and strategic decision making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee all financial operations and ensure compliance with GAAP, CRA, and WCCF policies.
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping: invoicing, payables/receivables, deposits, and receipts.
Monitor bank accounts, HST rebates, and cash flow; prepare forecasts and investment reports.
Prepare and present financial statements and analyses to leadership, the Finance Committee, and Board.
Coordinate the annual audit and liaise with external auditors.
Evaluate financial performance, identify efficiencies, and mitigate risk.
Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Provide financial insights for fundraising campaigns, events, and grants.
Budgeting & Planning
Lead the development and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts.
Analyze and report on variances, recommending corrective actions.
Support strategic planning with financial projections and insights.
Improve year-over-year plan-to-actual accuracy.
Administration
Oversee payroll and employee benefits administration.
Maintain compliance with finance-related policies and support daily operations.
Process donations and issue tax receipts and acknowledgements.
Main Accountabilities
Financial Integrity: Ensure all financial records and reports meet legal and professional standards.
Budgeting Accuracy: Deliver realistic, data-driven budgets and monitor variances.
Operational Efficiency: Optimize use of resources and streamline financial processes.
Transparency: Provide accurate, timely financial reports to leadership and the Board.
Fundraising Support: Deliver financial reporting and analysis for campaigns and grant proposals.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Certification
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
CPA designation an asset but not required.
Experience
5-7 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping (nonprofit preferred).
Experience managing budgets, audits, payroll, and financial reporting.
Familiarity with fundraising environment an asset.
Technical Skills
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and advanced Excel.
Experience with Blackbaud (Raiser's Edge) an asset.
Strong understanding of GAAP, CRA regulations, and nonprofit financial compliance.
Competencies
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff, leadership, donors, and committee members.
