Manager of Finance (Deputy Chief Financial Officer)

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Finance Department provides strategic financial leadership and ensures the effective management of public resources. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this position will lead, perform, and manage the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department in alignment with the Town's strategic and operational plans using ethical professional judgment and ensuring compliance with legislation and Public Sector Accounting standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily responsibilities fluctuate depending on the season, but will include a wide variety tasks such as reviewing payroll, payable and receivable entries; preparing and reviewing reconciliations; refining and developing processes and reports; team training and support; variance analysis; grant reporting and analysis, government reporting; year-end preparation and support; liaising with auditors; facilitating the financial month-end process; reviewing accounting software processes for accuracy; ad hoc projects; and supporting the creation of policies and bylaws.
Manages a team of five staff members and oversees accounting and administrative functions
Assists Director of Finance in staffing decisions in the Finance Department
Mentors, supervises, and schedules staff in Finance Department to support continuity of operations
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Designation or Degree in accounting and enrolment in a recognized accounting program which leads to a Professional Accounting Designation
Minimum of three (3) years of finance management experience in a similarly complex organization
Local Government Experience
Understanding of Public Sector Accounting Board standards
Ability to process complex information with accuracy and attention to detail
