About Us

We are the Public Safety and Security Division of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice. We encompass a number of programs and units all dedicated to ensuring a safer Nova Scotia with equal access and fairness for everyone. This includes Police strategies, support and accountability, Security Programs, Firearms Programs, Safer Communities, Cyberscan, Manger of Assets and Corporate Security.

Corporate Security is responsible for the physical security of all Government property and all Government employees and elected officials. From responding to security incidents and threats to developing long term strategies and processes to deal with an ever evolving threat environment. In addition Corporate Security is responsible for managing the Cyberscan program that provides guidance for those who are the victims of online bullying and the non consensual sharing of intimate images.

About Our Opportunity

The landscape of government security is rapidly changing, thus changing the needs of Government as well. The Manager of Corporate Security will be responsible for developing short-term and long-term organizational strategy to respond to the evolving security context in Nova Scotia. The incumbent will thoughtfully review and develop cross-government policies, programs, and procedures to keep employees of Government safe. This will involve a cross-provincial threat assessment to set the stage for strategic framework development. You will also be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with colleagues across Canada to be kept abreast of changes to the threat environment and security context.

This position will establish a highly adaptable security apparatus that will ensure safety and security of all employees, elected officials, and government of Nova Scotia infrastructure. By performing an in depth security needs assessment and a comparative jurisdictional analysis the Manager of Corporate Security will build a professional Security Program capable of fulfilling a broad, challenging mandate. This program will ensure a modernized security policy across government as well as security infrastructure and appropriately trained personnel. By establishing partnerships throughout government the Manager will ensure a consistent implementation of security policy, programs and procedures.

The Manager of Corporate Security will lead the proactive response to emerging threats. Given the ever changing threat environment the manager must be highly adaptable and capable of recognizing and mitigating security vulnerabilities.

About You

You are a dynamic individual capable of building a program focused on fundamental security needs and a vision of what will be required to keep assets and people safe in the future.

You are a seasoned professional with several years experience in security programs, corporate security or a related field. You have post secondary education in Social Sciences, Law, or a technology related program.

You are an experienced manager and have progressively attained more senior managerial roles.

You have experience in providing security assessments and in recognizing and managing risk.

You have well developed communication skills both written and spoken. You are comfortable in giving presentations to senior management and elected officials.

You have a highly competent technological background with both normal office software and advanced security software and programs.

You maintain a high level of awareness of emerging security threats. You can demonstrate an ability to network with other security professionals and organizations to enhance this awareness.

Pay Grade: EC 12

Salary Range: $3,561.95 - $4,452.43 Bi-Weekly
