To succeed in this role, you will:





Lead a team of seven technical professionals, focusing on technical (including infrastructure and networks) and application architecture, as well as business and information architecture. Coach and mentor the team in their career growth and cultivate a collaborative environment.*
Oversee the planning, design, delivery, and implementation of architecture solutions related to large scale, complex, multi-year I&IT projects required to meet the critical business requirements of our ministry client(s).*
Support the Product Management and Strategy team through the technical execution of product roadmaps, development activities, testing, implementation, and on-going product subject matter expertise.*
Lead the definition, evaluation, and development of architecture policies, standards, guidelines, and best practices affecting multi-ministry/cluster initiatives.*
Determine the risks of business solutions and propose risk-mitigating techniques.*



Meet Your New Team





The Telecommunications Services Branch

is responsible for the strategy, development, on-going support and lifecycle management for products and services provided to ministries. This includes providing key technology enablers like network services (e.g. Wi-Fi, LAN, SD-WAN, and satellite internet service), collaboration services highly integrated into M365 including Teams Meeting Rooms, modern telephony services through SIP trunking and Teams Phone service. These services enable ministries to deliver on their mandates, including supporting emergency management, facilitating customer engagements at ServiceOntario, and providing critical support to public safety and policing services. Additionally, we are responsible for ongoing modernization strategies and vendor management, using evidence-based decision-making and agile principles to support the on-going development of the products and services we are responsible for.




Successful candidates will be reporting to Jonathan Hutcheon. Jonathan is a passionate, empathetic, agile and people focused leader who has a proven track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on strategic enterprise I&IT programs. At the heart of it, he loves collaborating, listening, developing and leading highly motivated teams to deliver unforgettable customer experiences.




Today he leads teams of passionate professionals in Product Management, Strategy and Engineering where they are responsible for the delivery of new IT products ministries use every day to provide services to Ontarians (our customers). He leads the strategic vision, planning and development, acquisition, delivery, and security of the products and services GovTechON implements from inception to sunset. Jonathan has over 20 years of experience in the OPS, working across 8 ministries in files varying from Public Safety Radio, technology transformation, IT policy, network engineering, and operations.




Jonathan received his undergraduate degree in Information Technology Management from TMU where he majored in Infrastructure Design, Networks and Telecommunications. Outside of work he is a proud father of twin boys, an avid cottager, curler, and volunteer in his community.

Networking Engineering and Telecommunications Expertise



Deep understanding of networking technologies, including Software-Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), Wi-Fi, broadband & satellite services, traditional voice & Voice Over IP (VoIP) services, real-time video and collaboration platforms, and security components such as perimeter security services, cloud-based security infrastructure, and virtual private networks (VPN). Experience in designing and implementing robust and scalable network infrastructures. Analytical skills to diagnose and resolve highly complex network issues. Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to enhance network performance and reliability. Knowledge of industry standards and best practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
