Position Overview
The Marketing & Communications Manager will shape Rise FC's public voice and lead storytelling across the club. This role drives media relations, public relations, digital communications, and storytelling. While communications is the core focus, the role also supports broader marketing initiatives. You'll define how people experience Vancouver Rise FC through the stories you craft and the coverage you help generate. You'll elevate the profile of women's professional soccer in Canada.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a primary media contact for Rise FC, building strong relationships with local, regional, and national outlets to ensure extensive coverage of the club.
Lead day-to-day media relations, pitching stories, coordinating interviews, managing requests, preparing talent, and building strong relationships with key journalists and outlets.
Coordinate all media availability and run press conferences for players and coaches, ensuring smooth operations, message consistency, and strong delivery.
Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and key announcements (signings, milestones, major events, schedule releases).
Oversee game-day media operations, press conferences and media relations on gameday (credentials, media room coordination, interview zones, etc.).
Handle crisis communications, ensuring messaging aligns with the club's values and objectives
Lead Rise FC's communications strategy by identifying compelling narratives, developing pitch angles, and driving proactive outreach to sports, culture, and lifestyle media to elevate Rise FC as a prominent voice in Canadian sport and culture.
Act as lead writer for club communications: news articles, LinkedIn content, feature stories, Q&As, and long-form content that elevates players, staff, and community.
Serve as the primary club contact for broadcast operations in partnership with the NSL and Dome Productions, which includes all logistics and technical requirements for home matches.
Ensure effective communication and execution of pre-match, in-match, and post-match broadcast needs.
Own the end-to-end execution of our newsletter program in Mailchimp, including writing clear, on-brand email copy for campaigns and football updates, QA, deployment and reporting email performance.
Learn and become proficient in using the Tradable Bits platform, creating post-match surveys, Match Day Hub, sourcing first-party fan data, and centralizing data across channels.
Create and manage a media hub for accredited media partners to quickly access essential information, approved images, b-roll, and video content.
Update and maintain key content areas on the Rise FC website (news, roster updates, next match graphics).
Skills & Experience
4+ years in communications, public relations or media relations. Soccer experience is preferred; sports, entertainment, or agency backgrounds are an asset.
Demonstrated success leading PR campaigns and generating meaningful earned media.
Experience working with Canadian sports, culture, or lifestyle media and strong industry relationships.
Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft clear, compelling narratives.
Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities with discretion and meet tight deadlines.
Passion for soccer and alignment with Rise FC's mission, values, and brand voice.
Strong understanding of women's sports and the evolving sports media landscape.
Must be available to attend all home matches at Swangard Stadium and work evenings/weekends as required. This role may require occasional travel to away matches.
