The

Manager, Marketing & Communications

is a strategic, results-driven individual who leads an in-house creative and digital team in the development and execution of integrated marketing initiatives that support our revenue generation and drive growth. This key leadership role reports to the Senior Director, Operations, and will be responsible for shaping the company's brand positioning with a focus on revenue generation, developing, and overseeing marketing planning processes, and identifying market opportunities to enhance our competitive advantage across multiple markets. The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of analytical thinking, creativity, and leadership experience to drive cross-functional alignment and deliver measurable impact.

Key Responsibilities:



Leadership



Provide leadership, development and direction to the Marketing & Communications Team. Set clear goals, delegate responsibilities, and support team members' professional development, while evaluating and providing constructive feedback on performance. Ensure key initiatives are effectively coordinated and planned, while being completed on time and within budget. Create an annual rolling one-to-three-year Marketing Plan and actively manage the Team to accomplish its goals. Manage Avana's donation and sponsorship program, communicating and negotiating with promotional partners as needed for joint marketing activities. Monitor and evaluate key sponsor partners to ensure effective delivery of partnership agreements and expected results. Develop and report on key Divisional metrics on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis, as applicable.

Residents/Revenue Support



Lead and direct the marketing and communications team to deliver a revenue-focused approach to all marketing and communications functions, supporting strong and effective revenue generation. Support lead generation and ILS (internet listing system) management to deliver qualified leads in an effective and cost-efficient way. Develop and execute new market, seasonal and project-specific plans to ensure the successful delivery of key project objectives, while aligning with corporate business goals. Provide regular reporting to the leasing team on upcoming marketing plans and the effectiveness of current or historical campaigns. Ensure existing partnerships and assets are activated effectively to support new leasing and ongoing lease renewal activities.

Brand Management



Manage and execute an annual marketing and communications plan and budget to span across all communication channels and reach appropriate target audiences, while delivering a strong ROI. Maximize brand awareness and value through the development of brand initiatives consistent with corporate business goals and objectives. Develop, manage, and produce materials to create a cohesive image and message for all communication vehicles. Ensure all products, services, and other offerings conform to brand identity and conduct ongoing brand management. Oversee the development, management and maintenance of all online communication vehicles. Manage Avana's communications and media relations activities.

Market Research



Initiate research, development, and implementation of new marketing programs, including social media marketing, direct email, promotions, advertisements and other initiatives. Develop, manage, and execute market research, including resident insights and consumer behaviours. Ensure market research activities directly inform marketing strategies and strategic initiatives by developing a marketing dashboard for monitoring.
Key Goals:

Strengthen Revenue-Support Processes and Foundations

Develop and implement consistent, scalable marketing and communication processes that directly support revenue generation and renewal. This includes refining workflows for campaign planning, lead nurturing, and resident retention; enhancing coordination with leasing and operations teams; and establishing feedback loops to continuously improve the effectiveness of revenue-supporting activities. Focus on integrating technology, data insights, and process improvements to ensure sustainable and measurable growth across all markets.
Build the Avana Brand within new markets, ensuring strong recognition within the multifamily rental market and overall positive association within the market

Measure the impact of ongoing marketing and communications and track results from ongoing campaigns. Identify opportunities to extend existing successful marketing programs into new markets and deliver these changes. Align corporate communications and social media efforts to increase engagement and ensure strong lead generation to support revenue generation on an ongoing basis in each market and market segment. Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement by leading market research, analyzing competitor trends, and gathering resident insights. Develop data to inform strategic decisions, optimize marketing efforts, and support growth.
Develop and execute a plan to develop the first Avana Resident profiles to guide additional development and marketing efforts to ensure alignment with key Resident requirements.

Identify outside expertise that can support this work over the long term, assuming limited experience in-house. Develop a project plan that leads to a written and visual representation of key Resident groups. Identify business functions where Continuous Improvement efforts can improve the experience in priority areas.

Key Results:



Achieve measurable increases in brand awareness, engagement, and lead generation to support Avana's revenue growth targets. Maintain high ROI on marketing investments and track all activities through a centralized marketing dashboard. Build a resident-driven culture within the team, using resident insights and performance metrics to guide all marketing and communications decisions.

Skills & Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related field (MBA or equivalent experience preferred). Minimum 5-7 years of progressive marketing leadership experience, ideally in real estate, property management, or a comparable industry. Proven track record in digital marketing, analytics, and cross-functional leadership. Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and project management skills.

Compensation Package:



Benefits:

Dental and medical benefits package. 80% of the cost is covered by Avana. Option for the employee to purchase disability and life insurance.

Pension:

The Pension Plan will commence in your second year of employment. 2% of salary matched in year two, 3% of salary matched in year three, 4% of salary matched in year four and 5% of salary matched in year five.

Vacation Entitlement:

20 business days per year. Must be accumulated prior to taking them.

Annual Bonus:

Opportunity to earn up to 10% of salary as an annual bonus.

Parental Leave:

Once an employee has worked a full year (12 months) at Avana, they are eligible for four (4) months of salary top-up to $15,000, with ongoing benefits based on the terms stated above. Pension matching will not apply for the duration of the period of leave. If an employee provides their resignation within 24 months of the paternal leave return date, the total amount of the salary top-up will be repaid to Avana.

Probation Period:

The probation period is 90 days from the start date.
