Exhibition Place is seeking a visionary and strategic Manager of Marketing and Communications to lead our brand storytelling and public engagement during a 10-month contract.

What can I expect to do in this role?




Reporting to the Director of Sales and Marketing, the Manager, Marketing and Communications will be responsible for all aspects of marketing, public relations and communications including digital marketing, public and media relations, social media, website, market research, promotions, corporate communications, and brand development. A hands-on marketer you are responsible for the marketing and strategic development of Exhibition Place marketing and will play a critical role in brand awareness for the entire grounds and for delivering an exceptional visitor experience.

Prepare annual marketing & advertising budget and plan in consultation with the Director of Sales & Marketing. Manage, coach and mentor the Digital Marketing Specialist role. Manage, develop, execute, and coordinate all communications activities (i.e., community and internal newsletters, website, digital channels and platforms etc.) and public programming communications initiatives to ensure successful outcomes and drive community engagement in consultation with the Director of Sales and Marketing. Initiates and executes promotions, social campaigns, and website marketing with the Sales team to target meeting, convention and exhibition and business events organizers, to drive incremental awareness and business events lead generation. Acts as the primary liaison for the sales and marketing department and Exhibition Place Leadership on marketing, tactical advertising campaigns, creative media plans and corporate communications for the consumer/public market. Acts as a subject matter expert for all marketing and advertising materials, writes and distributes all press releases for property events and promotions as per tenant requirements, develops a comprehensive annual marketing plan that includes client and meeting planner, tenant, community, staff, and overall strategic media outreach. Executes impactful PR strategy & activities to drive quality press coverage through media engagement, in alignment with communications objectives. Coordinates with the CEO and GM's office on crisis communication, provides guidance and address concerns as required. Accountable for the Exhibition Place and Convention Centre's brand image and ensures all contents are adherence to brand and graphics standards across the organization. Manages the execution of sponsored events, community/government relations activities, and press promotional activities. Maintains frequent, active engagement with Tenants to ensure content is up to date and relevant and ensures the cross promotion of Tenant initiatives is aligned with Exhibition Place strategies in collaboration with the Tenant Relations Coordinator. All other duties as assigned.

How do I qualify?



Several years' experience progressive leadership experience in marketing and communications for a public-facing organization. A bachelor's degree and or MBA required. Comprehensive knowledge of Advertising, Media and Public Relations, Brand Strategy, Graphic Design, digital marketing, and social media. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including strong presentation ability, particularly in the context of presenting information to diverse groups and relating to what may be competing priorities and resource requirements. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and WordPress an asset. Management and decision-making skills. Future-oriented with demonstrated ability to understand trends, promote experimentation where appropriate, and comfortable leading a team during a time of rapid change in communications. Ability to work unpredictable hours including some evenings and weekends. Experience working in a unionized or professional association environment is an asset
