BIOVECTRA Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.

BIOVECTRA Inc. has an opening for a Manager, Manufacturing Science and Technology. This is a permanent position located in Charlottetown, PEI.

The candidate will be responsible for:

• Leading process design from bench to scale up, determining appropriate and available process equipment, process flows and ensuring end of view to product life cycle to meet client needs.
• Leading and enforcing best practices for technology transfer.
• Performing process engineering analysis to determine cycle time, equipment fit, required technologies, scale up risk, etc.
• Providing guidance and oversight to a team of employees. Responsible for basic Human Resources services for the team including payroll, review and approval of vacation requests, providing employee feedback and evaluation where needed, and ensuring employees are in compliance with workplace rules.
• Showcasing BIOVECTRA\xe2\x80\x99s technical expertise in Business Development interactions. Client facing technical counterpart to the Project Manager for projects.
• Participating as a member of the evaluation team for new projects and products.
• Ensuring detailed review of the process science/CMC for incoming projects and coordinating with Process Science and Process transfer team for the technology transfer plan.
• Assisting Business Development with evaluating adequacy of facilities to accept new processes and appropriate actions required to implement the start of new process operations.
• Ensuring robust systems are used throughout the technology transfer exercise to ensure all risks are identified and mitigated.
• Technical evaluating and modelling of alternative manufacturing plans and change control related to new scales, flows, costs, and risks.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify, scale, and qualify Critical Process Parameters, Critical Quality Attributes, Critical Aspects and Control strategies so that robust commercial processes are achieved. (Contributor to the validation protocols).
• Partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure technical feasibility.
• Prioritizing and executing assigned project deliverables.
• Managing and/or assisting with the procurement and delivery of new pharmaceutical applications and technologies.
• Overseeing the design, installation, commissioning and qualification of new pharmaceutical processes and equipment.

• Adhering to BIOVECTRA\xe2\x80\x99s Health and Safety Policy as outlined in CP0010 Occupational Health and Safety Policy, Statements of Principle, and Responsibilities.

The successful candidate for this position should have:

• B.Sc., in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields with a strong working knowledge in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

• Eight years of relevant experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or similar regulated environment.
• Experience scaling up biological processes from lab to commercial scale.
• Design experience with upstream and/or downstream process equipment.
• Experience with pDNA and mRNA an asset.
• Project management experience is an asset.
• Demonstrated experience with the start-up and commissioning of facilities, process equipment and instrumentation.
• Possesses financial acumen, understands business metrics, and how to impact results.
• Basic understanding of applicable codes and quality/regulatory standards.
• Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, MS Project, and AutoCAD.

Note: Employees are eligible to apply for internal positions once they have completed a minimum of one year of service in their current position.

Entry: 75,000 Salary based on experience.
