Job Summary

WE seeks a Manager, Major Gifts. This individual will work with the Major Gifts team to implement strategy, support donors through individualized engagement and stewardship. As an organized team player, this role has a strong focus on attention to detail and pipeline development, reporting to the Director of Major Gifts.

The success of WE Charity\xe2\x80\x99s Major Gift team is measured (at both the departmental and organizational level) by:

  • the number of families engaged in the WE Movement (via trips, fundraising, camps, etc.),
  • the quality & consistency of relationships,
  • the strength of programming to build pipeline, and
  • achieving year end targets for Major Gifts.
The WE Charity Major Gifts team seeks a Manager who will continually strengthen these objectives and promote donor centricity among the team.

The position is based out of WE Charity\xe2\x80\x99s office in Toronto.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Support Director and Associate Director with both relationship management and project execution.
Stewardship and Special Project Management
  • Provide support to steward the engagement of major donors, ensuring a compelling stakeholder experience and ongoing contributions to WE programming, both domestically and internationally
  • Support Major Gift team on pipeline development and special projects
  • Fulfill our commitments to donors, seeing that all aspects are carried out, including preparing donor updates and reports
  • Manage donor recognition and stewardship strategies for 25th Anniversary Campaign in collaboration with director
  • Liaises with the Youth and Family Advisory (YAF) to identify cross-prospect and donor opportunities
  • Monitor performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of Major Gifts initiatives
  • Support in honoring donors and maintaining communications
  • Ability to execute on direction for special projects and events in support of the above
  • Collaboration with director on receiving and responding to new prospects with the aim of initiating engagement
  • Proactively identify prospective donors, carry out or request background research, and devise an appropriate engagement plan
Record Keeping
  • Support Director and Associate Director in the tracking of prospects, opportunities, and financials
  • Liaise with Stewardship Team & Finance/Accounting to ensure accuracy of financial reporting
Qualifications and Skills
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills, with the ability to handle high volume
  • Strong project management skills, and ability to work in a time-sensitive, goal-oriented and deadline-driven environment.
  • Flexibility around shifting priorities and timelines
  • Detail-oriented mentality
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Focus on revenue driving activities and maintaining a sense of urgency
  • Belief in the value of WE
  • Knowledge of development software (i.e. Sales Force), online databases and other sources to locate financial and philanthropic information
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • Articulate, self-motivated, team player
  • Previous fundraising, sales or customer service experience. Friendly, determined self-starter
  • Strong ability to seek new opportunities and think creatively
  • The desire to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented department
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with a proven ability to succeed with minimal supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability
  • High degree of flexibility; open to working evenings and weekends as needed.
  • International travel experience is an asset.
