What you\'ll do

As the Maintenance Manager of the FGL GTA DC you will report into the AVP of Maintenance and Facilities under the Maintenance Center of Excellence. Your primary role is to provide direction, delegate and remove any obstacles to delivering best in class maintenance and building services that enable the business to achieve its service and financial plans.

This will involve providing technical direction for tactical and strategic maintenance activities and one time projects, leading subject matter experts across multiple shifts to deliver Key performance indicators on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis. This position will be responsible for driving employee engagement of a multidisciplinary team made up of maintenance supervisors, planners, electricians, industrial mechanics, inventory controllers and MHE operators.

Leads, engages, mentors, and coaches a multi-disciplinary team of maintenance skilled trades-persons, and team members across all DC shifts i.e. Days, Afternoons, Weekends and Midnight

Ensure reliable, safe and effective operations of the CDC facilities and assets.

Lead, motivate mentor and coach multi-disciplinary maintenance team o Manage the staffing requirement of the Maintenance department. Facilitate professional development by conducting on-the-job training, performance appraisals, coaching, mentoring, and ongoing feedback

Ensure a positive working environment through regularly scheduled meetings with the maintenance staff to inform, resolve issues and provide direction o Working closely with Operations peers to achieve production goals, provide support and expertise to the DC Operations teams

Ensure Maintenance staff is fully trained and competent

Create a shared vision for a proactive and preventative maintenance team

Change management skills

Ensure safety standards are met for both the Maintenance department and facility and operational equipment. Support required safety programs, Health and Safety Act and compliance records and response on outside inspections

Assist in developing a capital budget for facilities, equipment and maintenance of DCs. Includes a detailed scope plan highlight planned costs of projects, schedule, proposed vendors, contingency cost

Negotiate Contracts with all external contractors and determine when and where to outsource services o Ensure budget expectations are met or achieved

Review RFPs and recommend vendor/contractor selection based on project scope, competitive bid results building specifications

Complete project agreements, develop SLAs with external vendors/suppliers/services providers confirm insurance certification, track budgets, process invoices and approve change orders and close out contracts

Resolve issues, conflicts or discrepancies with vendors and service providers

Manage the overall maintenance function of the distributions centres. Ensure proper preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repair capability on all equipment and systems

Continuously optimize maintenance to ensure the DC meets planned facility capacity and operations forecasts and targets

Develop and manage the maintenance department budget and yearly capital

Service the DC operations team to ensure attainment of operational KPIs

Direct on site work to ensure compliance to FGL and industry standards. Maintain all facility compliance with all related municipal, provincial and federal regulatory legislation and codes, including the testing/inspection of all fire protection systems

Manage/track and control all costs and activities associated with maintenance of power equipment fleet to include preventative maintenance and repair

Trigger purchasing of supplies, equipment, and maintenance items. Partner with Logistics Administrative Assistant on all aspects of bidding, purchasing and vendor management to best optimize quality and costs

Manage trainings and certifications for team members on power equipment.

Monitor maintenance and operations performance metrics to ensure problem areas are addressed and appropriate actions plans are developed to resolve issues

Direct work orders to ensure predictive maintenance strategies are being deployed to maximize operational uptime and quality results

Ensure the maintenance parts inventory is managed appropriately to ensure availability and contain costs, with effective justification on expenditures

Manage external vendor, contractor relationships and maintenance services to ensure contract compliance and successful delivery of services

Proactive and supporting role in Joint Health and Safety committee

What you bring

Bachelor\'s Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering or equivalent to industry standards licensed trades-person with related experience

5 years of related management experience

Familiar with the concept of world class maintenance and best practices

Experience with material handling equipment(i.e.. GTP/ASRS, conveyors), PLC, Robotics.

Conversant in preventive and predictive maintenance tactics

Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills

Experience in a supply chain distribution and manufacturing environment

Able to manage maintenance and maintenance resources effectively through the use of key performance indicators and benchmarking

Ability to motivate maintenance team associates and to help them develop pride and ownership

Good understanding of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting (power and controls)

Proactive problem solving approach focused on action.

Ability to organize and prioritize

Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and other maintenance scheduling tools

Working knowledge of fire and safety codes

Working knowledge of racking configurations, standards of Provincial and Federal codes
