Manager, Legal Entity Reporting (15 Month Contract)

Job Description

We are looking for a Manager, Legal Entity Reporting for a 15-month contract who will report directly to the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting. The Manager will be responsible for overseeing the legal entity reporting for a specified set of OMERS Administration Corporation's subsidiaries. Primarily the role involves partnering with groups across OMERS to ensure that the legal entity financial statements are delivered on a timely basis, reflecting the users' needs and are compliant with the relevant accounting standards. The incumbent will also focus on enhancing processes and controls over financial reporting that are kept current with best practices.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

Coaching a team through the preparation and coordination of the monthly and annual legal entity trial balance packages and financial statements

Overseeing the monthly and quarterly accounting, comprising journal entry preparation, account reconciliations and managing cash balances

Coordinating the Operating Plan and quarterly forecasts for a specified set of entities

Maintaining key stakeholder relationships both internally and externally including Investment Operations, Corporate Secretariat, Compliance, Tax, and external auditors

Reviewing steps memos, solvency tests and other documentation necessary to support contributions and distributions for various legal entities

Identifying and driving process improvements, including the creation of standardized and automated financial statements while leveraging the functionality of existing systems

Collaborating with other finance groups to ensure accurate and complete booking of transactions

Presenting the financial statements and answering questions that the Board may have, as requested

Completing assignments at the direction of the Sr Manager, VP, or SVP within tight time frames

Leading or participating in special projects as required

To succeed in this role, you have:

Minimum 6 years of related working experience in a finance role involving financial reporting; previous experience in the financial services industry is an asset

University degree plus a professional accounting designation (i.e., CA/CPA) in good standing

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills with proven ability to deal with all levels including Senior Management

Strong technical accounting skills (i.e., IFRS/ASPE/FRS 102) and the ability to quickly grasp internal controls and procedures

Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment with numerous work streams while maintaining strong attention to detail

A track record of identifying and implementing best practices
