Job Description

Role Impact:

This role will work with the Director, Leasing Intelligence in support of business development efforts across the Retail Leasing team. The role will equip the team with tailored research, insights, and B2B materials to ensure Leasing Directors and their teams can best position CF's assets in their current and prospect tenant conversations. This role will collaborate with various departments including Strategic Insights & Risk, Finance, Development, Innovation and Marketing on the latest industry trends, retailer due diligence, CF developments and other business innovations.

The incumbent must have the ability to understand key stakeholder needs, integrate various internal and external sources of data, analyze and interpret consumer research and market data sets, to develop compelling & tailored stories, and to provide high-quality, actionable insights to the Leasing team and current and potential retail tenants.

What you will deliver:

  • Support business development efforts of the Retail Leasing Team by:
  • conducting competitive insights tracking and monitoring efforts including development of insightful leasing tools or reports
  • communicating relevant industry trends and insights to internal stakeholders
  • developing client-ready insights-driven B2B marketing materials in collaboration with other departments as needed
  • leading development of insights reports to support ongoing prospecting efforts internally and externally
  • working with the Prospecting Leads to understand requirements and align required due diligence and tracking
  • Support Director of Leasing Intelligence by:
  • translating high-level business development request requirements into client-ready reports that leverage quality research and analyses showcasing CF's value proposition to prospect tenants
  • structuring and conducting complex analysis for more complex deals or new entrants to the Canadian market to help educate on overall market dynamics, nuances within categories or more complex and targeted requirements
  • Lead other ad hoc requests from the Leasing Team based on resource capacity, managing intake, prioritizing based on the Company Strategy:
  • Requests can include ad hoc insights such as prospect tenant reports, current tenant analyses, merchandise mix decisions, business cases and potential retail innovation partnerships or as determined by the Director, Leasing Intelligence or other Leasing leadership
  • Help support development of insight reports catering to specific prospect requirements (client facing high quality material) or to support internal retail-mix decisions (senior level facing insight reports)
  • Leverage existing tools and databases where available to access internal rent & sales, traffic, consumer and market research, in addition to external retailer and industry research to deliver insights and actionable recommendations in the form of reports, presentations etc. as needed in a changing retail environment and customized to the unique stakeholder needs.
  • Anticipate long term business needs and proactively assess stakeholder and executive requirements to create new processes, and tools for more innovative information visualization and analysis, and effective insights communication
  • Manage and be the point person for external third-party retail research data providers on ad hoc custom research requests as needed, managing small budgets where applicable (e.g. Telsey Advisory Group, Creditntell)
  • Prepare insights and special project findings

What you need to succeed:
  • Undergraduate or post-graduate education in Commerce, Business, Finance, Retail, Real Estate or related field
  • Shopping Centre and/or Retail intelligence experience considered an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in either of Market and Sales analytics, Strategy, Agency, Marketing or Category Management, preferably with a retail focus
  • Demonstrated experience in data visualization and graphical presentation of quantitative and qualitative data
  • Demonstrated experience in creating professional client-facing insights materials
  • Demonstrated experience in working with databases, statistics, primary and/or secondary datasets and other facets of research
  • Ability to effectively communicate and deliver insights, both verbal and written (e.g. telling insightful stories based on data)
  • Sound understanding of data manipulation and statistics
  • Expert in Microsoft Office, particularly in PowerPoint and Excel
  • Bilingual an asset
