TextNow is looking for a Manager, Information Systems, to join our Waterloo team. As a Manager, IT Technical Operations leader, you will be responsible for leading the vision and executing on it in all aspects of IT such as network, infrastructure, tooling and the equipment that keeps our business running and productive.


Candidates must be able to commute to our Waterloo, Ontario office at least twice a week


What You\'ll Do

    • Provide the vision for the direction of IT support, ensuring it maps back to our company values and overall success
    • Manage a growing team of IT support specialists, focusing on career path, growth opportunities, and work planning
    • Ensure our network and infrastructure will scale and is reliable across multiple work sites
    • Provide technical support for the entire employee base to ensure that employees are set up for success
    • Work in an agile environment, continuously evaluating and adapting to be more productive
    • Own, support and maintain multiple enterprise applications, including Confluence, Jira, etc.
    • Identify and implement innovative solutions to help drive efficiency within the organization
    • Oversee support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, security access system, AV equipment and desk phones
    • Manage the IT Support Desk including liaising with TextNow employees, answering follow-up inquiries, providing context, solving outstanding problems, and ensuring accountability for SLAs and responses
    • Lead implementation and management of IT projects planned as part of IT initiatives
    • Oversee and manage TextNow IT hardware inventory including laptops and any other company owned devices, and TextNow office IT infrastructure including access points, Wi-Fi, firewalls, etc
    • Liaise with Information Security vendor to manage and enforce Information Security policies and best practices
    • Provide IT training as part of onboarding and continuous best practices for TextNow employees
    • Provide emergency/urgent support for IT and facilities-related requests


Who You Are

    • Creator of cool stuff with experience supporting Mac, Windows, and Linux laptops or servers and virtualization technologies like VMWare
    • Brilliant Collaborator with 5+ years of IT leadership experience
    • Someone who takes action and ownership with a proven ability to architect and plan future infrastructure needs
    • Respectfully candid with the ability tocommunicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences, both verbally and written and outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills
    • A bold risk-taker and self-starter who has good knowledge of network infrastructure including TCP/IP, routing, managed switches, firewalls, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and SMTP
    • Resourceful and scrappy with the ability to source servers, laptops, monitors, and any equipment needed by the organization
    • Experienced and creativewith databases such as MySQL, Confluence
    • Company Tool Supporting Experience supporting Office 365, new softwareintegrations and automation, SharePoint, Self-help policy & process development and implementation, technical experience with both Mac & Windows OS and AWS, Project management experience
