You will be joining our growing Calgary team, where you will directly support senior team members across the business and our geographic focus regions. You will have the chance to define and differentiate yourself as an innovative thinker, diligent, with high attention to detail. You will manage supervise a team and utilize best practices to build strong financial models and presentations in support projects and strategic relationships internally and within the global utilities and investment communities.

As the Manager, Investments, you will be expected to develop and supervise a team providing a broad range of analytical, modelling, research, and presentation preparation support for developing and executing ATCO Energy Systems\' strategic growth plans. You will also be expected to support transactions, greenfield project development, opportunity pursuit and support or lead other corporate growth initiatives. What you\'ll do:

  • Play a key role in all aspects of pursuing and executing investment transactions, including:
  • Research of company and industry dynamics
  • Detailed financial modelling
  • Company, project, and investment valuation
  • Preparation of presentation materials
  • Conducting due diligence
  • Preparation of transaction documents
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including company valuations, financial modeling, and industry research to support deal-making decisions.
  • Greenfield Project Support: Assist project teams with commercial structuring and project modelling, including pro-forma financials, capital structure, financing, capital plans, tax, risk assessments, and various ad-hoc analysis required to support business case development, and internal / external approvals.
  • Transaction Execution: Support the structuring, negotiation, and execution of mergers and acquisitions and other investments.
  • Due Diligence: Assist in conducting due diligence on potential acquisition targets and investment opportunities, validating key assumptions, assessing strategic rationale, and identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Pitch Books and Presentations: Prepare compelling pitch books, presentations, and other materials, showcasing our expertise and advising on financial strategies.
  • Strategic screening: Working with the strategy team to evaluate opportunities based on their contribution to ATCO Energy Systems overall growth strategy and targeted outcomes
  • Relationship Management: build and maintain relationships with internal groups, advisors, consultants and others who provide transaction support
  • Market Research: Stay up-to-date with market transactions and trends, economic developments, and industry insights
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies during the deal-making process.
  • Supervisory duties: supervise and organize workflow and to achieve group objectives, identify resource/skills gaps, participate in mentorship and training
Who You Are:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Economics, Commerce, Finance, or related discipline
  • Completion of financial designation (CFA, CBV, CPA) is required
  • 7-10 years work experience in investment banking, an investment firm, or a related corporate development role (i.e. financial analysis). Supervisory or managerial experience leading a team in similar role
  • Financial Skills: Solid understanding of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and financial statement analysis
  • Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with acute attention to detail
  • Collaborative: Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Experience in regulated utilities and understanding of the economics of regulated businesses (and their value divers/attributes) is preferable
  • Work Ethic: Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality work and meeting deadlines.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and take on new challenges with a positive attitude.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Able to work independently with attention to detail and results focused
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and MS Office applications
