Purpose
The incumbent is responsible for contributing to the ongoing investment success of and improvements to investment programs managed by Scotia Wealth Management Portfolio Solutions Group ("Investment Programs"), which includes ScotiaMcLeod Fee Based Programs, the Private Investment Counsel (PIC) investment platform and International Wealth Management discretionary offerings.
Responsibilities include the updating of monthly mandate and performance data for the Private Investment Counsel, ScotiaMcLeod Investment Portfolios, JFL Private Wealth and International Wealth offerings; ongoing maintenance and completion of regular business, program and client level reporting; and assisting with data migration and optimization initiatives.
Accountabilities
1. Responsible for creating and updating various reports and tools used by PIC Relationship Managers (RMs), ScotiaMcLeod, Jarislowsky, Fraser Limited Private (JFLPW) and International Wealth Management Advisors:
Monthly updates reports and tools with extensive use of macros and VBA
Diligently perform quality assurance and ensure reports/tools meet the user requirements
Provide continuous improvements recommendations to increase and promote efficiency and optimization of workflows
Quarterly updates for all JFLPW tools
Monthly updates to Power BI for the ScotiaMcLeod managed asset program proposals
Monthly data updates to support International Wealth
Monthly and quarterly reporting at the business line and program level
Monthly data uploads to various investment/ portfolio management systems
2. Act as contributor to the Proposal Services and assist the Business Development team with sales and marketing of the Investment Programs:
Complete investment portfolio reviews/analytics and proposals requested from the PIC Relationship Managers and ScotiaMcLeod, International Investment Advisors and Global Family Office Group in accordance to established SLAs
Provide support to Sr. Investment Consultants with custom analytics for Institutional Request for Proposals and Request for Information
Provide ongoing support to the field, responding to and anticipating queries on investment performance and client concerns utilizing various portfolio management system (Bloomberg, FactSet, Morningstar Direct, StyleAdvisors, MPower, Crystal Report)
Update Advisor team generic monthly and quarterly proposal documents
Maintain a current repository of proposal fulfillment analytics
Maintain and update current proposal tracking KPIs
Collaborate with internal partners to create and deliver final proposal with a high degree of accuracy
3. Act as a key contributor in data migration and optimization initiatives by:
Participating in projects to transition current data processes
Providing recommendations to improve operation of current data updates
Collaborating with key stakeholder groups across GWM for the sharing of investment data and best practices
4. Contribute to the positive reputation and effective functioning of the Business Development Team by:
Staying informed on capital markets and industry developments
Handling all inquiries in a professional, timely, and client focused manner
Providing thorough, thoughtful, and accurate responses to all client inquiries ensuring proper follow through on all resolutions
Building effective working relationships with internal and external partners
Facilitating a culture of open and honest communication
Actively participating and contributing to touch bases and team meetings
Encouraging the generation of new ideas and approaches
Actively share knowledge and experience to enhance the development of all team members
Education/Experience
Over 3 years of investment industry experience with strong understanding of financial markets and portfolio management theory;
Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics or accounting is preferred
Enrolment in or completion of CFA program is desirable
Completion of CSC/CPH preferred
VBA Macro programming experience is mandatory
Experience with Morningstar, Bloomberg, Zephyr StyleAdvisor, Crystal Report, Mpower and Power BI is desirable
Experience working effectively with Advisors and Portfolio Managers
Very strong attention to detail
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications, Excel, Powerpoint
Strong knowledge of Power BI
Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability
