Position Statement/Summary



Reporting to the Director of Interprofessional Primary Care, Allied Health , the Manager of Interprofessional Primary Care, Allied Health provides operational leadership and regular oversight for the allied health services , including: staff support and development, management and monitoring of day-to-day delivery of care and services (including support to the reception and administration team), implementation of new allied health initiatives, managing changes in care processes, ensuring the achievement of care goals/targets through regular monitoring of performance. The Manager is also responsible for managing budgets and schedules, and annual operations planning with the Director of IPC, Allied Health.

The Manager works in active partnership with other members of CommunitiCare Health management team and their staff to achieve the Vision, Mission, and Strategic Goals of the organization. The management team works to reflect organizational values and actively supports their team through regular quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities



Interprofessional Primary Care Team



Supports the Director of Interprofessional Primary Care (IPC), Allied Health to ensure the effective delivery of interprofessional primary care services at multiple sites. Manages day to day operations of a team of allied health care professionals, including social workers, therapists, community health workers, kinesiologists, occupational therapists, kinesiologists, and massage therapists. Works collaboratively with the Director of IPC, Allied Health and allied team to develop, monitor and evaluate services and systems, to ensure efficient and effective delivery of high quality of allied health care services which are response to emerging needs in the community. Works collaboratively with the Director of IPC, Allied Health to oversee and monitor the budget related to allied health services. Promotes the implementation of evidence informed best practices programs, services and care pathways. Works collaboratively with both Directors of Interprofessional Primary Care (Allied Health and Medical Services), as well as the Manager of IPC, Medical Services in the planning, coordination and delivery of inter-professional, team-based primary care services Chairs/co-chairs (along with Director, as needed) regular allied health team meetings. Works with the allied health team to develop a collaborative, safe, and innovative working environment. Works with the interprofessional primary care team to identify opportunities to improve efficiency of service delivery to optimize access to care; oversees the implementation and evaluation of change initiatives. Ensures all allied health staff are working to their full scope of practice. Supports the allied health team in addressing practice challenges and issues. Monitors performance data regularly, and reviews data regularly with allied health providers; provides coaching and support to staff as need to ensure performance targets are met. Works with the allied health team to organize and support successful student placements. Participates in the review and preparation of policy and protocol development, as well as organizational performance reviews.

Corporate Services Support



Supports the development of organizational performance indicators and ensures that they are attained via QI and performance improvement methods. Contributes to the development of grant proposals as needed. Occasionally promotes the agency externally at public forums, community events, etc.

Accreditation Systems and Processes



Supports accreditation elements that apply to allied heath care services, including annual client record audits. Ensures compliance with accreditation standards and that the organization is, at all times, accreditation ready with elements that apply to allied health care services.

Human Resources



Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new allied health staff. Identifies staff continuing education needs and opportunities for staff professional development. Ensures that professional competence standards and best practices are maintained. Has a full working knowledge of the current Collective Agreement and manages direct reports within the requirements of the agreement. Conducts regular performance appraisals for all direct reports. Follows through with all human resource issues with staff. Ensure health and safety standards are maintained in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. Ensure accurate staff hours/time are submitted in a timely manner. Where applicable, submit payroll hours for direct staff to ensure timely payment of wages.

Qualifications



Degree in health sciences or community health-related discipline (e.g., public health) or combination of education with relevant supervisory experience or experience coordinating teams and leading team-based initiatives.

Regulated health professional designation, preferred.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including, flexibility and a positive "can do" attituded.

Excellent management and time management skills.

Demonstrated ability and experience to motivate teams, and to work sensitively and equitably with diverse staff. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in an inter-professional team environment. Strong administrative, organizational, and change management skills.
Knowledge and proficiency in health services planning, evaluation, and quality improvement.

Understanding of population needs assessments, data analysis and basic information systems.

Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based primary health care, social determinants of health, public policy within the health sector, current issues and resources

Demonstrated commitment to anti-racism and anti-oppression.

Familiarity and understanding of population health and equity in health care including an understanding of anti-racism and appreciation of anti-racism in the Ontario and Canadian context, and in particular anti-Black racism and anti-Indigenous racism.

Proficiency in the use of computers, various software applications and electronic health records.

Knowledge of communities in the agency's catchment area, as well as knowledge of the community health center approach and model are assets.

Ability to speak a second language, related to catchment area populations, is an asset.
