We are now recruiting for a Manager, Internal Audit to join our Internal Audit team. This role is currently working from home 3 days a week and at our head office in Burnaby, BC 2 days a week. Apply at your earliest convenience if you would like to take on this role.

Key Ways This Position Makes An Impact

The Manager, Internal Audit leads risk-based financial, operational, and compliance internal audit engagements of varying complexity and supervises Internal Audit staff. The Manager supports the Director in completing the risk-based Agile Internal Audit Plan, implementing continuous improvement of internal audit practices, procedures, and tools, and upholding the credibility of the Internal Audit team.

This role provides the opportunity to support the Director, Internal Audit in managing all aspects of the internal audit function and leading the Internal Audit team. You would:
  • Work autonomously on planning, executing and reporting on internal audit assurance and consulting engagements, with oversight from the Director
  • Supervise professional staff functionally and/or on engagements, ensuring that their work complies with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with all levels of management and staff throughout PBC, ensuring our engagements provide value that helps them achieve their objectives
  • Communicate continuously throughout engagements to keep stakeholders informed on observations
  • Oversee follow-up on recommendations to review corrective actions and the adequacy of improvements made
  • Assist in developing the annual risk-based Agile Internal Audit Plan and ensuring its continued relevance throughout the year
  • Assist in developing departmental objectives, preparing materials for Audit Committee and coordinating assurance with other internal and external assurance functions


Key Experiences You Bring To This Role
  • Minimum six years working experience in internal audit or related field and
  • Minimum two years of people management experience
  • University degree in a relevant field
  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) and IIA designation (e.g. CIA, CISA, CRMA) or equivalent foreign designations, education and/or experience
  • Advanced knowledge of risk management and internal audit concepts and practices
  • Ability to adopt an agile mind set, adapt to changing priorities and learn from mistakes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to create clear understanding of expectations and establish positive and credible relationships with Internal Audit staff and audit stakeholders;
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and judgement skills with the ability to solve complex problems and identify risks and opportunities that may impact the organization
  • Experience in data analytics and/or IT auditing would be an asset
