Scope

We are looking for a candidate with strong tax, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills to join our highly engaged, aspiring, and experienced team in the financial core downtown Toronto. Reporting to the Director, Taxation, you will have responsibility for managing the Canadian HST/GST/QST compliance function including audit responses, as well as acting in an internal advisory capacity regarding indirect tax matters.

In this role, your responsibilities will include the following:

Oversee and advise on indirect tax compliance and reporting and ensure that all Canadian HST/GST/QST returns are timely and accurately completed

Manage indirect tax audit queries and responses

Work with Finance teams to provide indirect tax advice on ongoing operating initiatives

Provide ongoing support to the Investment Tax team on any indirect tax issues or risks arising on transactions

Assist with Enterprise-wide non-transaction tax projects

Manage ad-hoc indirect tax projects including those relating to tax technology, process efficiencies and ongoing training of staff

Qualifications:

At least 5 years of experience and credentials that reflect a background with progressive indirect tax exposure, preferably with a focus in commercial and residential real estate

A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree, preferably with a concentration in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

CPA designation preferred

Ability to deliver sound results, while handling multiple priorities with competing deadlines

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to prepare and self-review detailed analyses; and in breaking down big projects to achievable components

Ability to build relationships and work constructively with internal stakeholders and external advisors

Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

Demonstrates an ownership mindset and takes accountability for his/her deliverables responsibilities

Knowledge of finance principles

Demonstrates sound judgment
