About the Organization
The objective of the
Centre for Water Resources Studies
(CWRS) is to apply the research resources of Dalhousie University in a manner that will address real problems in water resources that exist or are anticipated in Nova Scotia, the Atlantic region and beyond.
Job Summary
Reporting to principal investigator, the Manager, HW Water and Wastewater Operations Research, will support water and wastewater treatment-focused research projects with Halifax Water as part of an NSERC Alliance Partnership.
The purpose of this role is to strengthen research collaboration with Halifax Water to ensure that individual projects advance to meet the overarching program goals of our NSERC Alliance Partnership.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with program researchers, industry partner staff and graduate students to define individual project scopes, objectives, methods/experimental designs, deliverables, schedules, and roles in pursuit of the overarching research program goals.
Oversee the development and testing of novel water and wastewater treatment processes, ensuring project timelines are met.
Prepare plans for project resource allocation and budget forecasting.
Analyze research data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform decision-making and improve treatment processes.
Prepare and present research findings in internal and external meetings, in reports and at conferences.
Supervise research staff and provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus, external sites and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in environmental engineering or closely related engineering discipline with minimum of 3 years of experience in the management of water and wastewater treatment research projects at the bench-scale, pilot-scale and full-scale.
Extensive knowledge of water and wastewater treatment technologies and processes.
Excellent data organization, management and visualization skills with experience managing large datasets across multiple projects and goals.
Experience with written and verbal reporting and presentation materials for a variety of audiences and purposes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong research and analytical skills and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
