If this sounds like you, we have an amazing opportunity for you! Extendicare is currently seeking a seasoned Human Resources Manager. Based out of our Corporate Head Office in Markham ON, the Human Resources Manager will partner with the team of HR Advisors to operationalize and align HR and business strategies. This role is critical in flawless execution of our people initiatives to enable the business in providing an exceptional employee experience.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Participate on the business leadership team to provide input to developing the strategic business plan, focusing on key people issues, trends, and solutions that contribute to the growth and competitiveness of the business

  • Govern, design, and plan strategic HR initiatives and solutions and coordinate with HR Advisors to implement at the site/facility level

  • Coach and develop leaders to deliver people and change management capabilities to achieve required business outcomes, including assisting with stakeholder management and communications

  • Support workforce planning by proactively identifying people and talent issues and gaps, making recommendations based on people analytics (e.g. monitoring FTE levels, forecasting contingent talent)

  • Lead the team of HR professionals to ensuring flawless execution of day-to-day HR, including engagement, succession planning, development planning, ER/LR, recruitment and retention and policy development and HR process improvements

  • Address escalated ER/LR issues and provide advice and intervention on complex employee relations issues including investigating workplace allegations

  • Partner with CoEs when business requirements indicate that a new program / policy is required and facilitate the interaction between CoEs and the business as the new programs / policies are being designed


Qualifications and Experience:

  • University Degree or completion of a College Diploma Program in Human Resources. CHRP designation considered an asset;

  • 6-8 years previous human resources experience in the noted functional areas. Previous people leadership considered an asset;

  • Working experience in a unionized environment is required;

  • Experience in managing through large organizational transformation;

  • Demonstrated excellence in development of human resources policy and practice;

  • Hands-on experience with innovative approaches to HR practice, change management and project management.

  • Exceptional leadership, relationship building, conflict management and communication skills;
