Key Activities
The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, orderliness, and overall appearance of the facility. This role ensures that all housekeeping operations are executed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with organizational standards. The manager leads a team of housekeeping staff, coordinates daily activities, and maintains high standards of hygiene and customer satisfaction.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Operations and Security Services, the Housekeeping Manager promotes a culture of safety by ensuring team members are trained to recognize and respond to potential workplace hazards. They are responsible for maintaining compliance with health and safety standards, overseeing required training, and managing all aspects of cleaning supply logistics -- including creating supply arrangements, placing orders, reviewing invoices, and maintaining inventory. The manager is also accountable for keeping supply costs within budget and ensuring resources are used efficiently.
The Housekeeping Manager is further responsible for overseeing waste management practices, ensuring proper disposal procedures are followed, and implementing strategies to maximize waste diversion rates in alignment with sustainability goals.
Skill Requirements
Post secondary diploma- or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience and a minimum of four (4) years of directly-related experience in a similar position;
Minimum of three (3) years of managing experience in a unionized environment;
Strong written and verbal skills and bilingual in both official languages;
Strong customer relations experience;
Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain communication;
Able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite;
Experience in roles requiring a high level of analysis and judgment;
Strong attention to detail;
Understanding of the sensitivity required when working in a creative environment;
Demonstrate a commitment to the NAC mission and ability to deliver an exceptional level of service and partnership: provide support and training to staff to build awareness within the organization;
Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with all levels of the organization, as well as with trades and sub-contractors.
