Responsibilities

Reporting to the Health Services Director, the Health Services Manager is responsible for the planning and coordination of services and daily operations of people-centered programs for Hospice and the Palliative Care Program within the Nova Scotia Health. The scope of management responsibility will be Valley Hospice and South-West Community Palliative Care Teams including Digby, Yarmouth and Shelburne.

Based out of Valley Hospice, there will be some travel expected to the South-West communities.

  • Providing leadership and direction for the units and staff to ensure the goals and objectives are continually met
  • Promoting and emphasizing people-centred care in partnership with the patient, family, and health care team
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining an active human resource plan including recruitment, selection, interviewing, and hiring
  • Preparing and analyzing all relevant financial and clinical data, reports trends and identifies where corrective action is required for budget variances, implements changes as required, and evaluates the effectiveness of the changes
  • Establishing and maintaining creative and efficient communication processes across clinical teams, geographically different sites, other disciplines, and other stakeholders within NSHA as required
  • Managing process improvements for quality patient care and enhancing capacity
  • Representing her/his discipline or service/program by active and effective participation in meetings and on committees
Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate degree from a health discipline
  • Master's degree an asset
  • Must be registered with the relevant health discipline college/association
  • Five years of relevant clinical experience
  • Previous leadership/management experience an asset
  • Experience and expertise in process planning and redesign work
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues and trends impacting the publicly funded health care system
  • Requires a high level of sound judgment, initiative, and self-direction
  • Demonstrates high degrees of independent decision making, motivation, creativity, flexibility, adaptability, and change management knowledge
  • Proven and highly developed leadership skills including vision, self awareness, relationship and team building skills, and communication skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work
  • Permanent Full-Time; 75 hours Bi-weekly
Salary Information

$40.27 - $53.50 hourly
