Alpha Alternatives is composed roughly 50|50 of the xe2x80x9cAll-Weather Portfolioxe2x80x9d, a portfolio of relative value fund investments; and Integrated Strategies (IS), which has three core strategies: Capital Events, Risk Transfers and Royalties & Rights. Team members focus on one of the three core strategies; however, work across all of IS, based on the overall opportunity set, resource allocation needs and personal development goals.ABOUT YOUR ROLEThe Manager, Alpha Alternatives is a member of the IS team, reporting to the Managing Director Alpha Alternatives. The Manager would initially be a member of the Capital Events team of two. The objective of the Capital Events strategy is twofold:To provide structured capital solutions to corporations requiring late-stage pre-IPO financing, bridge capital or be-spoke, collateralized creditTo generate returns through transformative corporate events where securities are mis-priced versus probability-based scenarios of underlying eventThe team works with partners in capital solutions, constructive engagement, equity capital markets, risk arbitrage and distress/restructuring.The Capital Events Manager roles are the following:Assessing and recommending where capital should be allocated based on evolving opportunity set in Capital Events strategyLeveraging fund partners and Global Alpha Fundamental Research Platform for co-investment flow, knowledge transfer, market insight and due diligenceWorking closely with partners to monitor fund investments in Capital EventsScreening and prioritizing deal flow based on risk/return dynamics, degree of uncorrelation, our capabilities and fit with portfolioStructuring deals for downside protection and upside convexity, ensuring alignment with partnersUtilizing investment advisory framework and other solutions for partners on co-investments where we may not be fund investorsLeading due diligence efforts on deals, transaction structuring, negotiation of terms, driving internal investment approval processes and actively monitoring investments in the portfolioInteracting with other internal teams as it relates to risk, legal, audit (internal, external), valuations, ESG and external legal counselActively contributing across Alpha Alternatives to investment strategy, portfolio and performance review and process/tool improvementSourcingLiaising with IS partners in generating and maintaining an active pipeline of new investment opportunities in Capital EventsTriaging and prioritizing opportunities for rapid assessment, go/no go decisions and partner responsePro-actively developing a professional network of relationships in the Capital Events space through reach-out to best practice firms and active conference attendanceInvestment executionDriving investment thesis preparation and communication.
