Division: Enterprise Integrity & Compliance
Location: Calgary, AB

We are looking for a Manager, Forensic Investigations to join us in the exciting work we do in the Enterprise Integrity and Compliance Department. It will be your responsibility to conduct forensic investigations to evaluate and promote compliance with policies that are aimed at reinforcing our values and preventing fraud, financial mismanagement, conflicts of interest, and other irregularities within the organization. You will work closely with stakeholders such as internal audit, corporate security, procurement, legal, IT, finance, HR, internal controls and others to complete forensic investigations. Your primary objective will be to uphold the Company\'s values and safeguard our assets and reputation by conducting thorough investigations, gathering evidence to support or dispel allegations and identify opportunities for policy and/or process improvements. You may also conduct forensic audits to find opportunities to improve risk management and control practices in the organization.

What You Get To Do:

Forensic Investigations and Audits

  • Plan, implement, and manage forensic investigations in accordance with professional standards and industry best practices.
  • Identify potential fraud risks, irregularities, and/or financial misconduct.
  • Collect and analyze financial and non-financial data, including electronic evidence, to uncover fraudulent activities or improper conduct.
  • Assess and evaluate potential risks and vulnerabilities within the company\'s operations, processes, and systems.
  • Document working papers and findings and prepare detailed reports.
  • Conduct proactive fraud audits to help identify \'red flags\' and provide recommendations for Management to prevent fraud, misconduct, or financial irregularities.
  • Provide recommendations for improving risk management practices and fraud prevention strategies.
Collaboration and Reporting
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, internal audit, corporate security and human resources, to investigate and resolve identified issues.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing findings, recommendations, and remedial actions to be taken and communicate these results to Management and key stakeholders.
  • May be called upon for litigation support as well.
Research and Policy
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, regulations, and techniques related to forensic auditing and fraud detection.
Who You Are:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification required.
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and/or Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), as well as other risk management designations, are an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of investigation and forensic accounting techniques, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • 7-10 years\' experience in conducting forensic audits, fraud investigations, and/or financial examinations.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools, financial software, and computer-assisted audit techniques (CAATs).
  • Spanish language proficiency is an asset.
  • Strong computer literacy including advanced skills in MS Excel and Word.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to maintain objectivity, integrity, and confidentiality in all aspects of work.
  • Familiarity with the utilities and energy industry and its specific financial and operational challenges is advantageous.
  • Travel may be required.
